A massive thank you for the wonderful evening we enjoyed last night listening to award winning Welsh crime writer Chris Lloyd Author discussing his latest title ‘The art of Occupation’ with fellow author Alis Hawkins Author. It was fascinating listening to Chris talk about the scale and complexities of the N**i art thefts which inspired his book, and the nuances of the political systems and moral challenges facing ordinary Parisians. Chris is an incredible author, a crime writers favourite, frequently drawing comparisons with literary stars such as Philip Kerr and Sebastian Faulks. We cannot recommend his books highly enough and now have gorgeous signed editions!! Although this is book 4 in the Occupation series, it also works as a hugely enjoyable stand alone! And to our lovely audience I’m sure, like myself you’re enjoying your latest read from this fantastic author!

A reminder that we have the wonderful Chris Lloyd for an event this Thursday with fellow crime writer Alis Hawkins as chair. For those unfamiliar with Chris’ work, the award winning Occupation series follows Detective Eddie Giral during the World War ll occupation of Paris. Chris’ writing is beautifully researched with stunning historical details, morally nuanced, eloquent, humorous, and they are beloved by readers, authors and reviewers alike, drawing frequent comparisons with household names Phillip Kerr, Alan Furst and Sebastian Faulks. We had a wonderful event with authors, and sisters, Samantha Rhydderch and Fran Rhydderch. Many thanks both, and to chair Mike Parker, our audience and the library for providing the perfect venue. We have lovely signed editions of these two beautiful books, exploring different forms of memoir in store. Samantha’s collection features her poem ‘Aubade’ the Telegraph’s Poem of the Month no less!! Congratulations Sam! 🙌🥳
Both editions are flying out so Sam has kindly returned from New Quay to sign more!
