The End Of An Era: Juno Download Signs Off
For more than two decades, Juno Download was one of the biggest names in digital dance music. Long before streaming became the norm, DJs relied on download stores to build their collections, discover new music and support artists directly. For many of us, checking the latest releases on Juno was part of the weekly routine.
Now, Juno Download has officially announced it is closing its doors.
Launched as the digital arm of Juno Records, the platform became a trusted home for electronic music fans across the globe. From UK Hardcore and Drum & Bass to House, Trance, Garage and Techno, it offered an enormous catalogue of music for DJs and collectors alike.
Juno Download arrived during a major shift in the industry. As DJs moved from vinyl and CDs to digital formats, the platform helped bridge the gap. It gave independent labels a global audience and allowed aspiring DJs to access the same music being played by the biggest names in the scene.
For artists and labels, it was more than just a shop. The platform provided charts, genre rankings and a direct way for fans to purchase music, putting money back into the hands of the people creating it.
In a farewell message to customers, Juno Download thanked the artists, labels and music lovers who supported the platform throughout its journey. The company confirmed that customers can still access and download previous purchases from their accounts, while recommending alternatives such as Beatport and Traxsource for future purchases.
The closure reflects how much the music industry has changed. Streaming services now dominate the market, and many DJs use subscription based libraries integrated directly into their software. However, there remains a dedicated community that prefers to own their music files outright, making Juno’s departure a significant moment for dance music culture.
For countless DJs, Juno Download was where first sets were built, hidden gems were discovered and future classics were found.
