...E V E N I N G L O V E L Y B U N C H !
Just a quick pop on this dreary day to offer us some colour & cheer.
Who’s not missing actual shops or fairs? Or have you been converted to online? No dealer in their right mind is not missing getting out there & selling or buying at fairs. Having gone buying at fairs for quite a few years now, long before it became work, I think we’re all slightly bereft at the lack of them over the last year. Ever hopeful we can get back to them soon. Treasure hunting in fields & seeing familiar faces is something I long to return to. But in the meantime in the midst of all this I’ve learnt to adapt to how I buy & sell the picks element of my business, whilst the other two parts of interior styling & my Airbnb has been rested. For me seeing my lovely customers & spending much more time chatting to them whilst delivering or collecting has been a great upside. Some I now call friends. What positives will you learn from & take from the last year?

...H E L L O 👋🏻 it’s me! Had a few weeks off posting to recharge after a very busy 2020 (thank you to my lovely customers!), which felt like an age! Thanks to those of you who took the time to message to check in on me - a definite upside of the social media community. Thought I’d better get over the post-break nerves sooner rather than later...

I hope the first few weeks of 2021 has been kind to you. I reckon it’s okay to start slow this year & just let January be whatever it needs to be. Be gentle with yourself & focus on your immediate needs. Given the year we’ve just left, I loved this quote I heard from Oprah Winfrey lately, “Step out of the history that’s holding you back. Step into the new story you are willing to create.” As we begin this new year let’s think ahead with optimistic positive vibes. Good times are coming 🤞🏻 What are you doing / watching / sorting out this weekend?!

WELL what can I say (normally quite a lot, I’m told!). The year of 2020 - a truly challenging one for us all. Chances are not many of the goals & plans we had came to fruition in the end. Not to worry, let’s look to next year & start afresh. I’ve had a lot of feedback from customers lately about my “positive & uplifting” posts & stories which have “been glimmers of joy though all of this.” Despite life’s challenges (& at 40 I’ve had quite a few!!) & what we’ve all been through this year, I am generally quite a positive person & strongly believe if we can identify a positive narrative about what we are living through - even if it’s terrifying - it not only affects how we feel mentally, but has positive health outcomes too. That I guess has been my focus. Keep occupied, be busy, grateful, never give up...we are all in it together & remember good time will come.

More importantly than ever I want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to you all....Not only have you supported me & my little business this year by helping it to thrive BUT you have shopped sustainable . As I enter year 4 of PamPicks I (take a breather & reflect on what I’ve accomplished) look back proudly of what I’ve achieved in this pandemic year with completion of the interior design of just before lockdown, being featured in , my new Space at Rait Antiques Centre, a visit from there & my fab inspiring trip to particular highlights. I genuinely feel blessed to have been able to keep working (relatively normally) even though nothing has been normal this year.

Pat yourself on the back for making it this far & cosy up to your nearest & dearest, or your chosen family, & bid adieu to one of the most challenging years any of us have experienced. Onward to 2021 with positive thoughts!

Love & Hope to you all this Christmas.

Although not a Christmas any of us planned let’s make the most of it in the knowledge that we can have one hell of a one next year to make up for it. I look forward to putting my feet up for a bit after working my socks off to hunt down, pick & deliver PamPicks this year. Funnily enough I’ve enjoyed the challenge but more importantly loved meeting & getting to know a lot of my lovely loyal customers. I’m super excited that lots of you have chosen picks from me to gift for Christmas.

Had a lovely message from my good customer Courtney-Jack this week when we were discussing our work plans for Christmas. Told him I’m going to try & take some time off as I’m knackered but my friends say they’ll believe that when they see it! To which he replied “haha, you’re a hard worker that’s why you always have the best picks 👍🏻“. Remember you don’t need buy flash gifts as it very much is the thought that counts. Being nice to each other costs nothing & means a lot. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Today for me has involved a day at Rait & I’m delighted it wasn’t blooming raining & the sun actually made an appearance! ☀️ Oh what a difference that makes to my photography & more importantly my mood. Cannot beat a winter sun to lighten the load especially in 2020!! Am I right? Hope you managed to get out & see some of it.

Anyway let’s take a look at my Space in Court 2 at Rait Antiques Centre. With Tier 3 affecting the area since the start of November life has been tough for many for some time. Chin up Aberdonians after the news today that we’re joining them...We will get through this.

enough to be able to visit this stunning setting at Rait, Perthshire on a weekly basis as I cover Court 2 at Rait Antiques Centre - where my new PamPicks Space resides. Slap bang in between Perth & Dundee (just after The Horn when travelling south) there are soon many wonderful places to visit nearby. Always a joyful space to spend time & unwind in the cafe with a coffee or nice homemade bowl of soup. Very grateful to be a part of here & have welcomed it into my life during this crazy crazy year. Roll on next year when life, as we took so much for granted, returns.🤞🏻

In other news, I can never get enough of large baskets with a story to tell. And this Perth laundry basket by Thomson Ltd does just that! With painted markings & an address label stitched into the top it eagerly awaits one very lucky owner. As always, I like to encourage you guys to think outside the box with my picks. And so, in my eyes this will make a great coffee table with tray on top, & also be a rather handy dumping ground for all the Christmas toys & clutter!! 🧸

exquisite interiors is medicine for the sole. Surround yourself with people & pieces that bring the best out in you & make you smile when you see them. In the words of one of my besties recently when she was trying to lift my spirits, we need to “make space in our life to surround ourselves with radiators not drains!” An interesting phrase but on reflection very true indeed....

Uplifting lyrics to lift the spirits from the “grin & bear it” many of us are doing just now. With news of vaccines starting next week we are forever hopeful that the end is in sight, if a little distant for some. Hang on in there guys, we’ve come this far!

Now I never really talk about how green it is to buy vintage & antique pieces. Very little footprint, other than my own sourcing picks.... By buying vintage you are saving those rather big landfills filling even more & giving them a new second lease of life. Not to mention the fact they bring a spark of individuality to a home, making it very unique to you 💛. What’s your favourite vintage or antique piece in your life?
