Joshua Elias is a Los Angeles–based abstract painter, whose unique pictorial language has evolved over more than four decades. Through an intuitive process, Elias creates layered atmospheric surfaces that balance restraint with revelation.

that is not derivative of mid-20th-centurey abstraction…(his) work is boldly
colorful, initially appearing purely abstract, but containing figurative elements: mythological animals, real animals, and dark underwater imagery.”

His work has been exhibited internationally in museums: Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles), LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), as well as an international roster of galleries and collectors.
Elias’ current artworks in the exhibition, “The Dreams of Rabbits,” were created at 3.1 ART residency, in Saissac, France. The work is in response to the stunning display of nature, the artist’s interaction with the people, and the eclectic ambience of the
village. All of which, served as inspiration and manna for the paintings presented.
