📚✨ ABBEY BOOK CLUB — [Our May Read] ✨📚

We’re diving into Veronica by Mary Gaitskill for our next book club gathering.

A piercing and deeply reflective exploration of memory, mortality, beauty, and the fragile ways we come to understand both ourselves and others.

Through the shifting lens of remembrance, beneath its sharp observations on youth, glamour, and desire lies a profound meditation on loss, human vulnerability, and the quiet tragedies of recognition — the unsettling realization that the deepest truths about love, suffering, and connection are often understood only in retrospect.

📚✨ ABBEY BOOK CLUB — [Our April Read] ✨📚

We’re diving into Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre for our next book club pick.

A haunting exploration of existence, identity, and the unsettling weight of simply being.

Set against the quiet backdrop of a French town, Nausea invites you to question meaning, routine, and the stories we tell ourselves to feel grounded. A deeply introspective and thought-provoking read.

(Le texte en français plus bas.)
Dear friends, the December hike will take place on Sunday, December 14th. We hope that many of you will be able to join us!

This time, we will walk about 8 km from Longueville station to Provins station, to admire the Unesco World Heritage area of Provins with its Medieval Christmas Market.

Our meeting point will be at the Gare de l’Est station at 10:40 am at the beginning of the platform to take the train that goes to Provins departing at 10:47 am.

We will take the train back from Provins to be at the bookstore at 7:30 / 8:00 pm—right in time for the festivities to continue at the Abbey Christmas Party.

As usual, bring a picnic and water, good walking shoes, and something to protect you from any rain showers!
