Le château de Chambord en cheveux de 16 membres de la famille Lèbegue réalisé en 1868.

Here is the centerpiece of the moment...
The Château de Chambord made from the hair of 16 members of the Lèbegue family, created in 1868.
Details on the back of the frame.
Simply incredibly beautiful!

Collection of 90 19th-century hair items.

From the end of the 18th century and throughout the 19th century, these objects were made by Ladies and Demoiselles, as well as by talented hair artists and jewelers.
Local and national exhibitions rewarded the best.
The talent of the most skilful is recognized by the award of medals.
These works bear moving and varied witness to important moments in the family or social life of our ancestors, both humble and illustrious.
Births, communions, engagements, weddings, wars, travels, love or friendship, deaths, were just some of the reasons for the creation of souvenir medallions, miniatures, paintings (flowers, landscapes, monuments), jewelry, belts, various box decorations, etc....

All rare today.
Most of these works feature a blackened wooden frame and curved glass.
The hair is glued to a background of glass, ivory or cardboard.
Medallions range in size from 8x6 cm to 45x38 cm.
