Autumn is quietly making its way into the studio. 🍂

Rosehips have always been one of my favourite signs that the seasons are beginning to change, so I decided to stitch them into this new hand-embroidered cushion cover.

Tiny rosehip branches are scattered among soft, trailing grasses, creating a simple woodland design inspired by hedgerows, faded summer colours and the slower days that autumn brings.

30 × 30 cm.

Hand embroidered on linen and finished with an oversized bow.

🌹 Wild Rosehips — Hand Embroidered Linen Tea Towel

Something a little lighter and more delicate from my work table today.

A little branch of wild rosehips, individually embroidered by hand onto beautiful white linen and finished with a wonderfully deep, scalloped broderie anglaise border.

I love the contrast on this one — the simplicity of the tiny rosehip branch against all that beautiful old-fashioned white linen. It has such a gentle, vintage feel.

Made slowly by hand in my little atelier in rural France.

🍂 Rosehips & Wild Grasses — Hand Embroidered Linen Table Runner

A little celebration of the hedgerows that will soon be glowing with rosehips.

Wild rosehips, faded grasses and tiny heads of golden yarrow have been embroidered by hand across both ends of this natural linen table runner, in soft earthy shades of rose, ochre, warm brown and muted green.

This was a particularly slow piece to make, with every little rosehip, leaf and stem individually stitched by hand, but I think all those tiny details were worth the hours. 🤎

🍂 The whispers of autumn...

Rosehips beginning to colour, grasses catching the last of the summer light, and the quiet beauty of the changing season.

This large hand embroidered linen tea towel was inspired by those peaceful days when summer lingers, but my heart is already wandering into autumn .....🍂

After weeks of exhausting heat and drought, today felt like a little gift.

With the terrible wildfires burning further south, even yesterday our skies carried the smell of smoke from hundreds of kilometres away. It has been such a long, hot summer.

So today my son and I escaped on our bicycles in search of a tiny 12th-century Romanesque church hidden among the quiet fields of rural France.

The sat nav stopped working almost immediately, so we simply followed peaceful lanes, cycled through cool woodland, and trusted our instincts. Somehow, we found it without taking a single wrong turn.

We spent an hour exploring ancient carvings, sharing a picnic, and enjoying a silence that's becoming increasingly rare. As we rode home, my son smiled and said :

"That was the best day ever."

Sometimes the greatest adventures are simply old stones, quiet roads, and a place that makes you want to return... perhaps on a misty autumn morning. 🤍
