…The Design of the light poles draws their concept from axiality and grid of the square, and the cruciform plan of the Helsinki Cathedral. Cross-section of the poles form shadows that make the them look more streamlined and slender, and the shape conceals luminaires behind it when viewed from the direction of the square.
The Poles are equipped with modern energy-efficient led luminaires for facade and street lighting and also act as support for the overhead tramline.

Helsinki Senate Square got a new lighting update it deserves! Futudesign designed the new lighting poles as part of a lighting master plan update project.
The Square and its surrounding buildings form a unique and cohesive example of neoclassical architecture which is one of Finland’s most prestigious public place and most photographed tourist attraction.

Light poles in the square have always resembled the design style of their own time and so do the new ones.
The Vision was to create a minimalistic, subtle and inconspicuous design that blends into the prestigious surroundings yet has its own distinctive contemporary style.

It has been an honour to be part of a project that brings the "living room of the whole nation" to new brilliance.

Etsimme taitavaa arkkitehtiopiskelijaa monialaiseen luovaan tiimiimme! Työtehtävät liittyvät erityisesti konseptivaiheen suunnitteluun. Arvostamme kokemusta arkkitehtuurikilpailujen tekemisestä sekä hyviä mallinnus- ja visualisointitaitoja (Rhino3d + Maxwell/Vray). Työajoista voidaan sopia joustavasti – osa-aikatyö opintojen ohessa on mahdollinen.

We are looking for a student of architecture to join our multidisciplinary team! The work you will do focuses especially on the conceptual development stage of the design. We appreciate experience in architectural competitions as well as good modeling and visualization skills (Rhino3d + Maxwell/Vray). Schedules are flexible – a part-time position that fits with your studies is possible.
