Lithium-Ion Battery Charging Best Practices

Bigblue Dive Lights uses the safest Lithium-ion batteries on the market today. They are specifically
designed with protection circuits to the exact specifications of each light for maximum safety and
output. Keep reading to learn more about Lithium-ion battery charging best practices you can apply to
extend the life of your dive light!
Many of our customers choose aftermarket batteries, and the truth is, it’s a bit of a gamble. There are
hundreds of somewhat comparable Lithium-ion batteries on the market but unfortunately, they are not
all created equal.
The biggest problem, (aside from the obvious safety issues), is that they may be slightly shorter in
length, causing the contacts to be misaligned. This will cause flickering, or in some cases, the light
will not function at all.
Bigblue Dive Lights – Battery Care & Best Practices:
• Fully charge before first use.
• Plug in charger before inserting the battery.
• Observe correct polarity. Red light = Charging. Green light = Fully charged. Remove battery.
• Avoid letting batteries drain completely
• Do not turn light on if fully discharged.
• Use only Bigblue Chargers
• Don’t leave the battery plugged in once fully charged and don’t leave the battery charging
unattended, especially overnight.
• Keep batteries in a cool, dry place, away from extreme heat or cold which can reduce lifespan.
• Prevent dropping, puncturing or crushing batteries
• Remove battery if stored for a longer time.
Charge after each use. For long term storage store at min. 40% charge.
Monthly charging recommended even if unused.
Safety Tips:
• Never leave batteries unattended while charging.
• Replace batteries annually and recycle old ones responsibly.
• Only use Bigblue batteries with Bigblue Dive Lights.
• Keep away from children and follow manufacturer specifications.

EO Heat Controller

Technical divers using heated vests or gloves often face the challenge of fixed power output. Once set, the device delivers the same power throughout the dive, regardless of changing water temperature conditions. What feels comfortable at 70 meters can quickly become too hot during decompression stops. To address this, we developed the EO Heat Controller in collaboration with Patrick Widmann. This compact unit sits between the battery pack and the device, giving divers precise control over power delivery. The system provides three selectable output levels: 100% indicated by red, 50% indicated by yellow, and 25% indicated by blue. This allows maximum flexibility to adapt to the environment in real time. Two models are available. The EO Heat Controller I is an inline unit for single-device control, while the Y model splits power to two devices, with each output cable individually adjustable left and right for independent control.
