我們教會今天開始在聖母升天節之前連續禁食十五天。按著聖經所述，“蒙大恩的女子，願你歡喜，主與你同在！” (路加福音 1:28)
向聖母瑪利亞致敬，她是永遠的貞女，偉大的代禱者，忠實守信的聖人。
聖經中有很多有關聖母瑪麗亞的預言,其中有:1-" 主自己要給你們一個跡象：看啊，必有童女懷孕生子，給他起名叫以馬內利。"(以賽亞書7: 14)
2-" 看啊，一個童女必要懷孕生子；人要稱他的名為以馬內利。以馬內利翻出來就是：神與我們同在。"(馬太書1:23)
教會稱聖母瑪利亞為"Theotokos"， Θεοτόκος（Theotokos）是由兩個希臘文單字組成的詞，其中希臘語：Θεός是神、上帝的意思，而希臘語：τόκος是懷孕、生子的意思。
之所以,我們特別恭敬她,但是絕非把聖母瑪利亞當作“神"。
讓我們一起讀聖母在聖經中的禱告:
" 馬利亞說，我的魂尊主為大；我的靈在神我的拯救者裡喜樂；因為他顧念他使女的卑微；看啊，從今以後，萬代要稱我有福。那權能的，為我成就了大事；他的名為聖。他的憐憫在畏懼他的人身上，直到萬代。他用膀臂施展大能；那狂傲的人，正心裡妄想，就被他趕散了。他把有權勢的從他們的位上推翻，叫低賤的升高；叫飢餓的得飽美物，叫富足的空手回去。他扶助了他的僕人以色列，為要記念他的憐憫；正如他對我們的父輩、亞伯拉罕和他的種子所說的，直到永遠。"
(路加福音 1:46-55)
