📚 Happy Independent Bookstore Day!

Running an indie bookstore is a dream come true.

But for us, Book Lovers Valencia isn’t just a shop — it’s a community hub. Whether you’re a local, a foreign resident, or a curious traveller, there’s a place for you here.

Want to share your writing and connect with a supportive literary community?
Want to finally finish that book you’ve been “currently reading” for a year?
Between our Writers’ Open Mic and Silent Book Club, we’ve got you. And we’ll be expanding our offerings soon.

If you’re a page-sniffer, dog-earer, trophy collector, book hoarder, or just looking to read more, we’re here for you.

And while the transition to our new location has been… complicated… we’ll be opening our doors again very soon. 👀

In the meantime, tap the link in bio to browse our online shop or visit our Libro.fm link for your next audiobook.

🎤 What a night.

Congratulations to Charlie, our audience favourite, for her funny and sultry piece about Mercedes — “Age before beauty, love.”

Hosted by the ever-brilliant , the evening took us on a true rollercoaster — from laugh-out-loud moments to deeply moving stories. Alexey also shared some of his own poetry, touching on Tennessee Williams and how connected we are even as strangers.

A special thank you to Mike from for once again hosting us in such a warm and welcoming space. He kicked off the night with a reading from Sweat — and you can catch the next live performance this Monday.

Highlights from the night:

• Donna returned with another heartfelt poem — this time, an ode to her daughter.

• Tony shared four short poems, balancing light humour with deeper themes — each deserving their own applause (naturally…).

• Ricardo () delivered a powerful piece exploring anxiety, sexuality, and fear.

• Murphy () stunned us with vivid, visceral poetry, including “i killed an angel and she wore my weeping face” and “confessional.”

• Shea brought us into her internal chaos at a Lorde concert with “Is everyone too cool to dance with me?: a listening party postmortem” - catch her Substack via our link in bio!

• Ana Clara da Silva told a moving story of a family navigating the aftermath of an accident.

• Grace (.book) shared a deeply personal excerpt from her book Healing from Narcissistic Abuse — and is launching tonight at 17:30 at .

• And finally, Julia () closed the night with a charming story about a certain U.S. president — no, not that one. George Washington.

Thank you to all the writers who bravely took the stage — and to our wonderful audience for supporting local literary talent. 🙏

We expect the next open mic to be in our new shop… stay tuned!

🌸 Happy International Women’s Day.

Today we’re celebrating the women whose stories shape the way we see the world — those who tell difficult truths, challenge power, expose the gaps in our systems, and remind us why these stories need to be heard.

Some of these books will make you cry with laughter, horror, hope, or rage — but all of them will leave their mark.

What books about women, or by women, would you add to the shelf?

🎤 Friday night’s Open Mic. reminded us why we do this.

Once again, we were stunned by the level of talent and breadth of emotion that local writers bring to the stage here in Valencia.

Thank you to the brave souls who shared their work, and special shoutout to those who took a chance and performed last-minute.

🏆 While every reader earned at least one vote, Georgie Grossman was named the audience favourite. Congratulations, Georgie! 🎉

She read a beautiful excerpt from her book, Bonne Vie in Provence, offering a lyrical reflection from the spirit of a historic guesthouse.
