Dreaming Dragons is a social entrepreneurship pop-up business promoted by The Kindred Project through Sotogrande International School's Global Citizenship Program. It was created in 2014 not only to offer solutions to different social and environmental problems identified by The Kindred Project’s local and international partners, but also to teach students about social entrepreneurship, how to create, brand and maintain a company, control its funds, budget, profit, and most importantly how to work as a team.

Last Tuesday from 15:30h-17:00h in the school cantina we set up our pop-up shop where we sold second-hand books, clothes, shoes and school uniform in order to keep our business growing and support Hogar Betania develop its own social entrepreneurship venture.

We will make sure to keep you up-dated about our next pop-up dates and developments.

M4 Dreaming Dragons news

Today, we had our first GCP lesson since the Christmas Bazaar, which was held on Saturday 29th November. The first thing we did was to discuss the success of this event, which closed with the team having made €687! This money, together with the €999 raised during M2-M3’s Rag & Bucket will go towards sponsoring 9 students at the Nabugabo Community Learning Centre (Uganda) for one whole year!

A group of us are spending some time putting information about these 9 sponsored children on displays in the reception area and in the school cantina.

There were also 2 other teams working on Dreaming Dragon’s merchandising design and discussing the idea of celebrating an Edu-Hackathon and Lock-Down at school.

The merchandising team will design hoodies, bags, price tags, labels, etc. for our business, whilst the Lock-Down team are planning how they can make an enormously successful event for students. They are discussing costs, methodology, workshops that could take place at the Lock-Down such as: film making, long boarding, graffiti, aerial silks, life coaching, parkour, and much more!

The ideas will continue to develop during the next GCP lessons. Now there are a few discussions going on about the Education Hackathon, and the merchandising designs.

Global Citizenship Programme

Since the beginning of the term, M2, M3 and M4 GCP students have been working hard to develop their own student-led social entrepreneurship business with the aim of supporting The Kindred Project’s local and global partners, as well as developing their knowledge and skills around business. The process has been challenging, creative and worthwhile, as our unique Dreaming Dragons has been born! Dreaming Dragons is a pop-up shop offering high quality second-hand items, fair trade products from Morocco and Uganda, student hand-made goods, merchandising and much more! Our Dreaming Dragons marketing & communication team will make sure to keep you up-dated with all our developments and offers! Should you be interested in collaborating with this exciting business by sharing your experience, please get in touch with Ms. Valentina Stirling (GCP teacher) on [email protected]
