EDADISMO

Edadismo es el término que se utiliza para describir la discriminación o marginación de personas por razón de su edad, especialmente cuando esta se asocia a la madurez o a la vejez.

Vivimos en una sociedad que asocia la belleza, el éxito o incluso la capacidad de disfrutar de la vida con la juventud, como si el paso del tiempo fuera alejando valores como la creatividad, la curiosidad o la ilusión.
Sin embargo, la edad aporta experiencia, perspectiva y una forma diferente de mirar el mundo.

Quizá ha llegado el momento de reconocer también la belleza de lo vivido y de todo lo que aún queda por vivir.

Gracias a los señores Dubois por recordarnos que la belleza no tiene edad y que no tienen nada que envidiar a sus hijos.

AGEISM

Ageism is the term used to describe discrimination or exclusion based on age, especially when associated with maturity or old age.

We live in a society that often links beauty, success and even the ability to enjoy life with youth, as if the passing of time gradually diminished qualities such as creativity, curiosity or enthusiasm.

Yet age brings experience, perspective and a different way of seeing the world.

Perhaps it is time to celebrate not only what is new, but also the beauty of what has been lived and of all that is still to come.

Our thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Dubois for reminding us that beauty has no age and that they have nothing to envy their children for.

LOS DUBOIS LLEGAN A MADRID

Con motivo de la visita del Papa León XIV este próximo fin de semana, son muchos los visitantes que están llegando a Madrid para participar en los distintos actos y celebraciones.

Entre ellos ha venido a visitar a Alain su familia. En la foto aparecen su hermano mayor, Pierre, y su hermano pequeño, Denis. Mañana llegarán también sus padres, haciendo que este viaje sea todavía más especial, ya que coincide con la celebración de su 50.º aniversario de boda.

Para la ocasión, y para alegrar el apartamento en el que se alojarán durante estos días, han encargado este espectacular ramo elaborado con hortensias, peonías en distintos colores, ammi, claveles chinos y solidago.

¡Disfrutad de Madrid! 🌸

THE DUBOIS ARRIVE IN MADRID

With Pope Leo XIV visiting this coming weekend, many visitors are arriving in Madrid to take part in the various events and celebrations.

Among them is Alain's family. Pictured here are his older brother, Pierre, and his younger brother, Denis. Tomorrow, their parents will also arrive, making the trip even more special as it coincides with the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

To brighten the apartment where they will be staying during these days, they commissioned this spectacular bouquet featuring hydrangeas, peonies in different colours, ammi, Sweet William and solidago.

💛 El amarillo no siempre es un color fácil en floristería. Muchas veces se evita por resultar demasiado intenso frente a tonos más suaves o pastel. Sin embargo, bien combinado con verdes y blancos, aporta luz, energía y una sensación de frescura muy especial, especialmente en interiores o espacios con menos luz.
En este jarrón hemos trabajado con rosa de jardín, allium blanco, ammi, dos variedades de margaritas amarillas, achillea y verdes diversos para crear una composición natural, luminosa y ligera.

💛 Yellow is not always an easy colour in floristry. It is often avoided for being too bold compared to softer or pastel palettes. However, when paired with greens and whites, it brings light, energy and a wonderful sense of freshness, especially in darker interiors or spaces with less natural light.
For this arrangement, we used garden roses, white allium, ammi, two varieties of yellow daisies, achillea and mixed greens to create a natural, luminous and airy composition.

Haciendo equipo 💜

Montando este espectacular jarrón en tonos morados, violetas y lilas para el NH Nacional. Un diseño floral lleno de textura, movimiento y matices, compuesto por alhelíes, anturium, nardos, allium, delphinium, clematis y distintos tipos de eucalipto, creando un juego de alturas, volúmenes y color muy especial.

Como siempre, Alain pasó por la tienda y no dudó en echar una mano a Maite y a Juanjo durante el montaje. Porque las mejores cosas casi siempre salen así: entre manos, ideas… y buen equipo.

Creating this spectacular vase arrangement in shades of purple, violet, and lilac for NH Nacional. A floral composition full of texture, movement, and depth, featuring stock flowers (alhelíes), anthurium, tuberose, allium, delphinium, clematis, and different varieties of eucalyptus, creating a beautiful interplay of height, volume, and colour.

As always, Alain stopped by the shop and offered to lend a hand to Maite and Juanjo while putting it all together. Because the best things are usually created this way: with helping hands, shared ideas… and a great team.

Dado el éxito que tuvimos con el ramo de ayer, hemos pedido a Alain que nos haga el favor de prestarnos otra vez su imagen para presentar un nuevo arreglo floral.

Seguimos completamente obsesionados con los ramos verdes. En este caso, con un poquito más de flor: una hortensia verde moteada en rosa como protagonista, acompañada de agastache, crocosmia, leucadendro y distintos verdes texturales como grevillea, ruscus ramificado, esparraguera y eucalipto.

Nos gustan los ramos que parecen un pequeño jardín salvaje. Un poco desordenados. Muy vivos. Muy frescos. Muy verano.

Y sí… seguimos encantados con la colaboración de Alain 🙂

After yesterday’s bouquet turned out to be such a success, we asked Alain if he would kindly lend us his image once again to present a new floral arrangement.
We’re still completely obsessed with green bouquets.
This one includes a little more flower: a pink-speckled green hydrangea as the main character, together with agastache, crocosmia, leucadendron and layered greens such as grevillea, branched ruscus, asparagus fern and eucalyptus.

We love bouquets that feel like a small wild garden.
A little untamed. Very alive. Very fresh. Very summer.

And yes… we’re still delighted with our collaboration with Alan 🙂

Desde que empezó esta cuenta, hace ya casi ocho años, siempre hemos querido que nuestras flores aparezcan acompañadas de personas reales: vecinos, clientes, turistas, amigos y gente que forma parte de la vida del barrio.

Nuestros ramos han recorrido la calle Almadén, la calle San Pedro y muchos rincones de Madrid. Porque, al final, también son una pequeña forma de retratar cómo evoluciona la ciudad.

Hoy le hemos pedido a Alain, nuevo vecino recién llegado al centro de Madrid, que posara un momento con uno de nuestros ramos.

Since we created this account almost eight years ago, we’ve always wanted our flowers to appear alongside real people: neighbours, customers, tourists, friends and all those who are part of the life of this neighbourhood.

Our bouquets have travelled through Calle Almadén, Calle San Pedro and many corners of Madrid. In a way, they also reflect how the city keeps evolving.

Huele a verano ☀️🌸

Después de unos días primaverales de tormentas, cielos cambiantes y temperaturas locas… empieza a asomarse el verano.

Ese momento del año en el que vuelve el sol suave de la mañana, las terrazas, los cafés tranquilos, las cervezas al atardecer y las ganas de estar fuera, rodeados de color y de vida.

Con nuestros ramos intentamos plasmar precisamente ese espíritu: flores llenas de energía, tonos vibrantes, formas naturales y esa sensación fresca, alegre y un poco despreocupada que tiene el verano cuando todavía acaba de empezar.

Porque a veces un ramo también puede oler a vacaciones, a luz y a días bonitos. 🌿✨

It smells like summer ☀️🌸

After a few spring days filled with storms, changing skies and unpredictable temperatures… summer is finally starting to appear.

That special time of the year when soft morning sunshine returns, terraces fill up again, coffee tastes better outside, beers last longer at sunset and everything feels brighter and more alive.

With our bouquets, we try to capture exactly that feeling: flowers full of energy, vibrant colours, natural shapes and that fresh, joyful and carefree spirit that early summer brings.

Because sometimes a bouquet can also smell like holidays, sunshine and beautiful days. 🌿✨

Cada floristería tiene su estilo, su forma de entender el arte floral, pero ese estilo no debería ser un límite, sino una seña de identidad, porque también cada cliente tiene su manera de entender las flores: sus gustos, sus colores, sus preferencias, sus expectativas.

Y al final, un ramo siempre es el resultado de un diálogo entre el florista y la persona que lo recibe.
Ahí está, para nosotros, la parte más bonita de este trabajo: saber adaptar nuestra forma de crear a la sensibilidad de cada cliente.

En este caso, Maite ha elaborado este ramo para un cliente muy especial, que cada mes viene de lejos para recogerlo. Un ramo elaborado con rosas spray, peonías, lisianthus, astilbe y verdes variados.

Every florist has their own style.
Their own way of understanding floral art.
But that style should never become a limitation.
Because every client also has their own way of understanding flowers: their colours, their preferences, their expectations, their sensitivity.
And in the end, every bouquet is the result of a dialogue between the florist and the person receiving it.

For us, that is the most beautiful part of this work:
adapting our way of creating to each client’s sensibility.

In this case, Maite created this bouquet for a very special client who travels from far away every month to collect it 🤍

• Garden flowers in soft romantic tones.

En El Florista seguimos apostando por el verde 🌿

Además de resultar más económico que muchas flores, el verde aporta durabilidad —puede durar más de dos semanas—, movimiento y una espectacularidad difícil de conseguir con otros elementos. La mezcla de distintas texturas y volúmenes nos permite crear composiciones con muchísima presencia y personalidad.

Esta semana, para el vestíbulo de uno de los hoteles más carismáticos de la cadena NH, apostamos por este espectacular ramo elaborado con eucalipto parvifolia y ammi majus.

Naturalidad, frescura y mucho carácter 💚

Besides being more affordable than many flowers, greenery provides durability —it can last for more than two weeks—, movement, and a striking visual impact that is difficult to achieve with other elements. The combination of different textures and volumes allows us to create compositions full of presence and personality.

This week, for the lobby of one of the most iconic NH hotels, we created this spectacular arrangement made with eucalyptus parvifolia and ammi majus.
