ENTER THE FERN CULT
We are dedicating the Plant Spirit File and artefact of the month of June in the Occvlta P*tre*n community to one of the most enigmatic plant groups in the Folk Tradition: ferns.

The painting in this post depicts, through the skill of Witold Pruszkowski (1846 - 1896), the legend of the Fern Flower, which in some regions is also known as the legend of the magical Fern seed: it often revolves around the belief according to which the fern magically blooms or grows seed on midsummer’s eve (at the stroke of midnight). The flower or seed produced by the fern grants the person who finds it magical powers, invisibility, love, or wealth.

It is fascinating to find connections between fern flowers, fern seeds, and the magical beliefs surrounding them across territories, cultures, and ages. Expect an extensive plant spirit file focused on magic and sorcery, rituals, and midsummer practices related to ferns.

We cannot wait to delve deep into the Fern Cult.

DESCUBRE EL CULTO AL HELECHO
Dedicamos la ficha y el artefacto del mes de junio en la comunidad Occvlta P*tre*n a uno de los grupos de plantas más enigmáticos de la Tradición Popular: los helechos.

La pintura de este post representa, gracias a la habilidad de Witold Pruszkowski (1846-1896), la leyenda de la Flor del Helecho, conocida en algunas regiones también como la leyenda de la Grana mágica del helecho. Esta leyenda gira en torno a la creencia de que el helecho florece o produce semillas mágicamente en la víspera del solsticio de verano (a la noche de San Juan). La flor o semilla que produce el helecho otorga a quien la encuentra poderes mágicos, invisibilidad, amor o riqueza.

Resulta fascinante encontrar conexiones entre las flores y semillas de helecho y las creencias mágicas que las rodean a través de diferentes territorios, culturas y épocas. Próximamente publicaremos una extensa ficha centrada en la magia y la hechicería, los rituales y las prácticas del solsticio de verano que tienen que ver con el helecho.

Estamos ansiosos por profundizar en el Culto al Helecho.

This day of the Sun, coronated after the Rosalias, we present the artefact of May: Aqua Rutæ, Rue Water. An infusion of dried and fresh rue with rue hydrosol has been crafted on consecutive Sundays to make it the most solar, brightest, and strongest clarity-bringer we have ever crafted.

How to use it: You can use this water as lustral water for statues, effigies, tools, jewels, doors, gates, altars, knives, or as a mist. Use it to bring forth solar properties, clarity, protection, being able to see truth and others for what they are, to bring forth warmth and to cleanse parasitic spirits and evil eye.

This water will be sent this month of May, along with the rest of the spring artifacts to Maenad and Paracelsus patrons.

You can still get yours by enrolling in the tiers Maenad or Paracelsus.

En este día del Sol, coronado por las Rosalias, presentamos el artefacto de mayo: Aqua Rutæ, Agua de Ruda. Esta infusión de ruda seca y fresca, con hidrolato de ruda, se ha elaborado durante domingos consecutivos para crear el agua más solar, luminosa y potente que jamás hayamos creado.

Cómo usarla: Puedes usar esta agua como agua lustral para estatuas, efigies, herramientas, joyas, puertas, entradas, altares, cuchillos o como bruma. Úsala para potenciar las propiedades solares, la claridad, la protección, la capacidad de ver la verdad y a los demás tal como son, para atraer calidez y para purificar espíritus parasitarios y alejar el mal de ojo.

Rosalia Vigil: Immersive Experience🕯️

Same as we did on Saint Lucy’s night, this month we celebrate the mysterious Rosalia with an inmersive zoom vigil.

This practice aims to offer our gratitude to the Dead, the Land, the Spirit of the Rose as guardian of the Hedge, the genii locorum, and the many manifestations of Hecate, as well as other psychopomp deities, for their aid, presence, and protection.

This vigil seeks to renew our vows with those entities, while beginning or strengthening our relationships with them.

Al igual que hicimos en la noche de Santa Lucía, este mes celebramos las misteriosas Rosalias con una vigilia inmersiva por Zoom.

Esta práctica busca expresar nuestra gratitud a los Difuntos, al Territorio, al Espíritu de la Rosa como guardián del Cerco, a los genios del lugar y a las múltiples manifestaciones de Hécate, así como a otras deidades psicopompas, por su ayuda, presencia y protección.

Esta vigilia pretende renovar nuestros votos con estas entidades, a la vez que iniciamos o fortalecemos nuestra relación con ellas.

Join us for a long weekend devoted to Mythology, Plant Lore, and Folklore in the Pyrenees of France and Aran this summer! We will visit key locations in the regions of Val d’Aran (Catalonia) and France, significant in Pyrenean folklore and pre-Christian religion.

We will visit the home of old pre-Christian forgotten deities of forests and water.
We will learn how to establish a relationship with the Land and craft artifacts with the guidance and assistance of Plant Spirits.

This online course explores the history of protective magic from the ancient world to the Middle Ages, examining how different cultures sought to protect the body, the home, and the community from illness, spirits, misfortune, and unseen dangers.

Beginning with key terms such as amulet, apotropaic, charm, periapton, phylacteria, and talisman, the course introduces the origins of protection magic and the human need to establish sacred and liminal spaces.
