⛵ Two of the oldest wrecks found in the Mediterranean Sea are found in this town. It is about the Phoenician ships (specifically, in Playa de la Isla) These were found by chance during the construction of a nautical port that caused the change of the marine currents of the beach, revealing the wooden structure of the first of the two ships, the Mazarrón I , more than 2,500 years old.
Years later, another much larger ship was found (called Mazarrón II ), twelve meters long, which contains numerous pieces of Phoenician crafts. This ship can boast of being the most complete ancient ship that has been found so far in the world. 🌍
