Soviet extreme at its finest! The infamous "Surprise" ride, engineered in Yeysk back in 1974. This spinning centrifuge tilted high into the air, pinning riders to their backplates using pure physics. A flimsy chain and a lot of G-force!
A true core memory for anyone who grew up visiting Soviet amusement parks. 😵 Would you have stepped on?

Did you know that in the Soviet Union, even sending a letter was standardized? ️
Soviet state standards (GOST) dictated the exact size and layout of every envelope. The biggest change came in the 1970s with automated mail sorting. That is when the famous dotted grid in the bottom left corner appeared—you had to write the postal code using rigid, boxy numbers so the machines could read them.
And of course, the address had to be written "backward" by today's standards: country and city first, then the street, and the recipient's name last!
