This 🤍🖤🤍 solitary figure interrupts the geometric architecture of the building. This striking image was taken by the talented Photographic artist Mario Tarantino who ‘captures moments of escapism through a still aesthetic of light, shadow and contrast’. This image won 1st Place in the Professional Architecture category of the Monochrome Awards 2025 amongst several others. Somehow this image makes us think of man’s interaction with nature - sticking out like a sore thumb in most ecosystems.

Chapel 💙⛪️💙 Minimalism is the title of this stunning minimalist photo. It’s Ingjaldshólskirkja Church, West Iceland taken at dawn on a stormy day. The misty weather separated the church from the mountains in the background leaving it looking exposed. It was captured by the highly talented minimalist landscape photographer Helen Trust and won an honourable mention in the Landscape Category of the 2024 Minimalist Photography Awards. Chapels are places of worship and provide a venue for cohesion in communities. They’re especially welcome in regions with low population density and a method to reduce isolation which is proven to damage your health.

This incredible 💙🌎💙 photo was taken from space as the sun rose above the Earth. Today is Earth Hour a day when we reflect on our usage of energy. Let’s Try turning off all the electricity in our home for 1 hour! After all it’s only 1 hour in 8,760 hours of the year. But it’ll have an impact (think of your fridge / freezer) and perhaps it’ll make us all appreciate it more and the impact on our lives which we take for granted.

The Pull 💙🐄💙 of a Dugong is the title of this extraordinary photo by hugely talented dive photographer Douglas Seifert. It was highly commended in the 2013 World in Our Hands Award section of the Natural History Museum Wildlife Photographer of the Year. This particular dugong locally known as Dyson was in a bay off the Egyptian coast whilst being observed by numerous divers. With turmoil in the Middle East it reminds us that we have a significant impact on nature through all our actions. Today also happens to be Manatee Appreciation Day - manatees are closely related to dugongs although the latter has a fluked tail, is slimmer, has a deflected snout structure and only lives in saltwater.

Today 💙💧💙 is World Meteorological Day helping to raise awareness of the importance of weather. You probably notice the weather in your local area more than anywhere else. It’ll affect what you see, what you wear and often what you do. In countries like the UK where there is little consistency in weather patterns you are more likely to pay closer attention to weather forecasts. Plants and animals have evolved around weather patterns over millennia which is why the Holocene is potentially so destructive. This photo taken by Ateliers Verts in February, shows our local office environment where shifting weather patterns are very noticeable.

The 💚🐌💚 Sheep Nudibranch- Costasiella Kuroshimae “deposits its eggs in a circular arrangement while feeding on algae. The algal substrate provides a microhabitat for early egg development.” This stunning photograph by highly talented underwater photographer Giancarlo Mazarese, was one of his images which came runner up in the Portfolio Section of the 2025 Ocean Photography Awards. On of the amazing facts of these creatures is that they indirectly perform photosynthesis via kleptoplasty!

Brown 💚🐰💚 Hares are magical. In the UK, their population has recovered in the past 10 years by around 40%, especially in the East Midlands area. Their numbers are nowhere near the 4 million that were present in the 19th century (around 1 million today). Silage making, reduced gamekeeping, predation by protected predators such as buzzards and disease, especially EBHS (European Brown Hare Syndrome) their key threats. This beautiful photo was captured by wildlife photographer Nigel Spencer in Norfolk.

Long Grass 💚🌱💚 with Butterflies is the name of this 1890 painting by Vincent van Gogh. He painted it when he was at the psychiatric hospital near St-Rémy in the South of France. It’s a timeless piece and reminds us of the approaching butterfly months. It also captures the beauty of wild nature when left un disturbed. If you take the time to focus on an area of nature you can see so much, as Vincent has deftly demonstrated.

South 💚🦌💚 Sudan is the world’s youngest nation state born out of decades of civil war. It has a forgotten wilderness of 20 million hectares and is scene to the world’s largest terrestrial migration - the Great Nile Migration. This epic photo was captured by the award-winning and hugely talented Conservation Photographer Marcus Westberg. This image was shortlisted in the Wildlife & Nature category of the Professional Gallery in the Sony World Photography Awards 2026. Nature can rise from war and become an income stream for countries like South Sudan. Let’s hope all conflicts end and move in this direction.
