رأيتُ مقطورة قطار متهالكة ترسو آخر الرصيف كحيوانٍ خرافيٍّ يلوذ بجنح الظَّلام الدامـس. طلاؤها المقشور يكشف طبقاتٍ من أزمنةٍ تليدة، على نوافذها يلمعَ غبارٌ فضيٌّ، كرماد نجمٍ قد انطفأ لتوِّه، كأنها وُجدت من تلقاء نفسها لتحمل سرًّا غامضًا.

وحين اقتربت، أصدر بابها صوتًا أشبه بشهقةٍ حذرة كما لو أنها تتنبَّه لمسافرٍ جديد، وما إن وطئتُ عتبتها حتى انبثق ضوء قوي وتحركت فجأة، فانسحب العالم خارج النوافذ مثلما تُسحب الأوراق من بين دفَّتَي كتاب!
