Team Shepherd / Zen-Racing update

We thought it would be a good time to share an update with you all regarding the progress of Shepherd over the last few months.

Firstly, we would like to thank you all, driver and our partners, for the overwhelming support you have shown us to help get the Shepherd and Brilliant back to being the premier RC brands globally.

We have spent the last few months getting the inventory back to levels to support all the racers globally and this is an ongoing program to ensure continuity of the supply chain. This is a huge undertaking in both time and investment, and we thank you all for your patience while we get back to where we all want to be.

We have relaunched www.team-shepherd.com and we will continue to populate this site with new and historical set ups etc and we urge you to please continue to send your race set ups via this site, so we can continue to build the data base for the Shepherd community. You can also find a full list of current distributors on this site and if your country is not represented, please contact us so we can establish a presence in your region.

Our team drivers and designers are deep into the development of the key three platforms, Velox 8.x, Velox V10 and the 8e. Our plans are to have a range of upgrades early in 2024 for the 1/10 and 1/8 Nitro cars and if all goes well with the development and production cycle a new 8e platform in Q1 2024. As we are sure you can appreciate this process is time consuming, but we are totally committed to bringing you developments to help you race at the front of the pack.

ENS Round 2 – Apeldoorn, Netherlands

10th – 13th August saw the second Round of the ENS Championship held at the excellent Apeldoorn facility in The Netherlands.

A fantastic turnout of 142 drivers across 1/10 and 1/8 Open, 1/8 40+ and 1/8 Sports class saw an extremely competitive field in all four classes.

David Spashett of Zen Racing – the new Shepherd Micro Racing owners attended for the full duration of the event with Lee Palmer joining on Sunday. It was great to see the new owners in attendance with the impressive Shepherd turnout at the event. David helped in the pits across all classes, and also the tyre changes in the A main finals!

Trackside support was provided by Pieter Sorber of World RC – the Dutch Shepherd distributor who did a fantastic job supporting the team with spares and fuel – but also arranging a wonderful Shepherd team meal for all drivers and mechanics. This brought together the team from across Europe and the USA strengthening existing and growing new relationships. The audible engagement from all was clearly demonstrated with the decibel meter reading of over 110!

Shepherd success was achieved in all categories.

In the 1/8 Open Class:
Lars Hoppe and Timo Schroder demonstrated impressive pace throughout the meeting qualifying directly in the A main with strong drives finishing fifth and sixth respectively.
Tim Wood bumped up into the B final showing good pace, but unfortunately hit a technical problem which would ultimately end his charge for a bump into the A main.

In 1/10 Open Class:
Bernd Rausch showed excellent pace qualifying in the A main final, with a strong drive brought in home in seventh overall.

In 1/8 Sport:
Four Shepherd drivers made it into the A main after a mix of superb qualifying and great drives to bump up.
Jan Knispel drove an epic race leading the final for many laps but unfortunately lost the lead very close to the end finishing in an impressive second place overall.

Lots of fun was had by all Shepherd drivers achieving success across all finals and throughout qualifying. It was great to see the team working together so closely and supporting each other across all classes.

Hello

Our new German distributor is working hard on getting the logistical side of our partnership in place. Once this is done there will be joint press release announcing this new and exciting chapter for our German market.

We know you are all keen to know who will lead our distribution in German but please be patient for just a little while longer.

If in the meantime if any of our customers require spares or parts please contact our German trackside support team, Bernd Rausch, Markus Friedrich, Rudi Scherer and Wolfgang Hederich.

Spares and parts are also available through our other partners in Europe or direct from Zen-Racing.
