"Hvornår er man egentlig voksen?
Og hvorfor har de fleste en opfattelse af, at livet skal leves på en bestemt måde, ved at tage uddannelse, gifte sig og stifte familie på bestemte tidspunkter?

Disse spørgsmål finder jeg svar på i Tove Janssons finurlige Mumibøger, hvor der både er en heteronormativ kernefamilie og alverdens alternativer. Jeg dykker ned i hvordan den heteronormative orden bliver stabiliseret, og særligt hvordan den bliver destabiliseret af udsigten til kometen, oversvømmelsen og vinteren.
Vi kommer også forbi hvordan vores liv sætter aftryk i naturen, og om de i Mumidalen lever i en evig barndom.
