Also released is the German Drum Magazine Box Set / Kasten für 2 Stück Trommelmagazine Set.
On many of the original WW1 photos the MG Cart displays a 08/15 MG Drum Magazine Box installed within the front partition. There seems to be at least 3 different types of cases, with minor differences in the number of latches, position of handle, corner reinforcements and the inner layout. The one which is supplied is generally seen most and is copied from cases showing the installed drum magazines facing each other (others show the drums facing to the left or right, depending on direction the cases open). The inner spaces allow for the cranking handles to have room to be in the locked down position, facing to the rear of direction of firing the MG. Original items still around today, show these boxes painted in a grey-green shade similar to the wooden ammunition boxes of the time, although there are also some photos showing the distinctive WW1 German camouflage scheme, with dividing black outline. Metal parts will always show signs of rust where protective paint has become too thin or just chipped away and missing.

The Drum Box with the MG Cart is the closed version. In the Drum Magazine Box Set there are 3 boxes in total, with one of these as an open-version, displaying the internal compartment and 2 Drums.

Now being released, the new German MG 08/15 Cart / MG 08/15 Handkarren in scale 1:16th
These simple wooden MG transport carts first appeared during the mid-war period (1916 onwards) and were used predominantly to transport the lighter of the German machine guns, the MG 08/15. Other uses of the cart included the transport of the heavier German MG 08, the Ma**er 13mm Anti-Tank Rifle, general supplies, incl. ammunition or even the carrying of wounded personnel away from the immediate front-line areas (the rear MG support being used as a backrest for a sitting person, with legs each side of the second and front MG support).

Last but not least are photos of the same figure but painted by German figure painter Günter Sternberg. He has used one of the single spare German Steel Helmet heads (in this case SH44).

Berlin im Todeskampf 1945
Japanese modeler Hiroshi Miura has created this lovely 1:16th scale WW2 scene showing a Volkssturm member during the final battles in and around Berlin. He has converted the JSM Bavarian NCO 1917 figure, adding the MG 08/15 and a Panzerfaust (not JSM). I really like the way that he has sculptured the pullover and extended the trousers.

Norwegian Figure Painter Artist Roy Pedersen has created this little figure vignette (diorama) using the JSM French Chauchat Gunner in 1/32nd scale. He has obviously decided not to have the Chauchat MG and hence has left off the special ammunition pouches, which this figure normal has. This small conversion is well achieved and a wonderful piece of work. I just like all the detail and small accessories fixed around the trench. The work also won a Banner award on FB. Well done and a big thank you to Norway.

Just before Christmas, I received a series of photos from Spanish model-maker Antonio Casas Garcia showing his intensive diorama featuring the Jon Smith Modellbau Trench Rats (but only in a minor roll!). This is a spectacular model, with many small details, which one only notices after the first or second look. I look forward to more work from Antonia.

Hello friends of JSM. It has been quite some time since I have posted anything and hopefully, this will change in the near future. The Sd.Kfz. 2 Kettenkraftrad from Freedom Model Kits in scale 1:16th was built be Dutch model-maker and long friend Arie Allard. There are just a few JSM parts on the diorama, predominately the German PK 15 Ammunition boxes, or the German name: Patronenkasten Mod. 1915 (and partly hidden, German Wooden M1901 Ammo Box). https://www.jonsmith-modellbau.com/products/weapons-equipment-spare-parts/individual-parts/ammo-boxes-shells-cases/
Also, the JSM T-Gewehr or Anti-Tank Rifle ammo bag, Flare Gun and some M15 Stick Grenades: https://www.jonsmith-modellbau.com/products/weapons-equipment-spare-parts/german-anti-tank-rifle/
He has made slight alterations to the figures and as usual a lovely little scene.
A footnote from Arie on where the figures came from etc.: Figures are from Jeff Shiu's Miniatures 120mm. I had two spare heads from Alpine and the German Sd.Kfz.2 Kettenkraftrad with Cart & Sdkfz 302 Goliath Demolition Vehicle Freedom Model Kits / No. 16002 / 1:16. Furthermore, alot of Apoxie sculpt and painted with acrylic paint.
