🤖🌱 New Book Club Alert: Alternative Futures!

⏰Tübingen, it’s time to go deeper.

We are beyond excited to announce a very special collaboration with our dear friend, Curtis Runstedler! Curtis is a researcher at the University of Stuttgart currently teaching a course on Solar Punk literature. His work dives into the fascinating world of human-robot relationships and the cultural movements that shape our world.

Let’s be honest: the current public conversation around AI, robotics, and our “shared future” often feels shallow, corporate, and exploitative. 🌎💔 We believe we deserve a better conversation than that.

Join us at the Remmi Demmi Books Headquarters as we embark on a 5-month journey to reclaim our future. 📚Each month a new Book Club book will be read. 📕📖

📅 The Details:
When: Saturday, 24 January (The first of 5 monthly sessions) 10-11am

🧭Where: The Remmi Demmi “Kids Keller,” Marktplatz, Tübingen.

🧐What: Each month, Curtis will lead us through a deep dive into one specific book, exploring political movements, technology, concerns, and hope.

⚠️ Space is EXTREMELY Limited:
You know how small and cozy our Kids Keller is! We only have 10 SPOTS available for this ride to ensure everyone can truly participate in the conversation.

❄️✨Join us this Saturday the 6th at 10am for a St. NIkolaus reading of the Tomte und der Fuchs - auf Deutsch and then an encore reading in English. ✨❄️

✨This will be a read aloud story circle time in our cozy gewelberkeller at 10am both Saturdays (6th & 12th).

🦊The Inspiration Behind the Tomten🦊

📚Astrid Lindgren's beloved book, The Tomten and the Fox (Tomte und der Fuchs), published in 1965, was not an entirely original creation but rather a beautiful adaptation.

❄️✨Lindgren was inspired by the classic Swedish poem "Räven och Tomten" (The Fox and the Tomten), written by Karl-Erik Forsslund in 1906. Forsslund's poem introduced the concept of the silent, ancient tomten (a Swedish mythological creature similar to a gnome or house spirit) who watches over the farm animals during the long, cold winter nights.

✨❄️Lindgren took this traditional, atmospheric poem and adapted it into a narrative picture book format, giving it her signature gentle warmth and philosophical depth. Paired with the iconic illustrations by Harald Wiberg, she transformed the poem into the timeless story we know today—a quiet tale of compassion, protection, and the magic of the winter farm.❄️🌲🦊
