was established in 1988 as a record shop and mailorder based in the heart of Berlin-Kreuzberg.
With a product offering of over 30,000 items, Coretex offers the full range of goodies geared towards lovers of hardcore, punk rock and underground music. Through band merchandise, to skateboard brands, streetwear and a lot of in-house exclusive releases, Coretex has built a large and loyal fan base. Legendary bands such as Agnostic Front, Gorilla Biscuits, Madball, Slapshot, Suicidal Tendencies,
Biohazard, Hatebreed and Dropkick Murphys all call Coretex their Berlin home-from-home. For over 30 years now, Coretex has become something of an international meeting point for both established bands and
newcomers alike. An insider tip where you can have an informal „Meet & Greet“. You could be lucky enough to witness an in-store gig by a band as they stop over during the day before playing a sold out show on an evening. Names such as Brian Fallon, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Billy Bio, Anti-Flag, Judge, Marathonmann, Jaya the Cat, Swiss & Die Anderen, Slime and ZSK have all performed intimate shows, sharing a unique moment with their fans and the Coretex crew. For many of them it is also the chance to enjoy a Coretex beer with the team – something that in-house band Troopers enjoy quite often (ie all the time!). Maybe they make up for the fact that the other in-house band – Charley’s War – is less likely to do so... In the late 90s, no one carried the torch for Youth Crew hardcore like FASTBREAK. Formed in 1994, the Connecticut band quickly made a name for themselves in the New England area, thanks to their explosive approach to fast-paced hardcore music and unrelenting positivity. Their sound was a true successor to the upbeat style of bands like Gorilla Biscuits and Youth of Today. Their energy made them a staple in Connecticut hardcore, as they became a fixture playing alongside bands like H2O, Bane, Ten Yard Fight, Right Brigade, and more.
Despite their significant impact on the hardcore scene, Fastbreak's recordings had long been out of print and unavailable on streaming services. This is why Iodine Records is proud to re-release Fastbreak’s seminal debut album, Fast Cars, Fast Women. Originally released in 1998, every idea, riff, and rhythm on the record feels as fresh as ever. Songs like “Said and Done” and “Places Trades” are bursting with pure exuberance and energy. In a time when bands were getting darker and gloomier, Fastbreak was a breath of fresh air, bringing a more inviting energy to the genre.
Fastbreak’s ideas were extremely ahead of their time, predicting the future fusion of hardcore and pop-punk that would go on to take over the world. Their influence can be heard in countless bands that followed, blending the raw energy of hardcore with the immediacy of a positive attitude and approach. It’s a painfully underrated record, but thankfully, listeners now have a chance to realize just what was going on.
Fastbreak’s Fast Cars, Fast Women features Patrick Rorick on vocals, Steven Pica and Neal St. Clair on guitar, Don Raymond on bass, and Luke Garro on drums. The more the chaos escalates, the more complicit Murphy feels, culminating in his somber but relatable confession, “I hate almost everything I see, and I just want to disappear.”

Der Laden hat im Jahr 1988 eröffnet und ist schnell zum Treffpunkt für Punk und Hardcore Kids geworden. Es gibt immer noch viele Kunden aus diesen ersten Jahren, die jeden Berlinbesuch ohne im CORETEX vorbeizuschauen, als unvollkommen erachten.
Verschiedene Bands haben schon Shows in oder vor dem Laden gespielt, unter Anderem Troopers, The Unseen, Anti-Flag, Chuck Ragan, Gorilla Biscuits, Kill Your Idols, Anticops, Danny Diablo, Born From Pain, Radio Dead Ones, Final Prayer und viele, viele mehr. So ist CORETEX zum inoffiziellen Meet & Greet Punkt geworden, an dem viele Bands einen Stop einlegen wenn sie in Berlin spielen um das CORETEX Team und ihre Fans zu sehen und das ein oder andere Bier mit ihnen zu trinken. Trotz aller Veränderungen und Erweiterungen die das CORETEX mitgemacht und durchlebt hat, ist es immer noch derselbe Underground Laden, der er auch am Anfang war.
Das CORETEX ist stolz darauf, einen freundlichen und szeneaffinen Service anbieten zu können – egal ob man als Szeneeinsteiger, Urgestein, Sammler oder Passant in den Laden kommt.
Der Mailorder wurde in den letzten Jahren zu einem immer wichtigeren Teil vom CORE TEX. So ist CORETEX in der Lage seine kompletten Lagerbestände anzubieten: von Merchandise zu Musik, CDs, DVDs, Magazinen, Büchern und Fanartikeln wie Skate-Socken, Skate-Decks und Musik- und Band-Sammlerstücke. Der Online-Shop wurde kürzlich gerelaunched und hat weiter an Attraktivität für die Kundschaft gewonnen.
Im Jahr 1994 hat CORETEX seine eigenen Musiklabels gegründet. Mit den Labels Mad Mob, Bad Dog und Grapes Of Wrath hat das CORETEX bereits mehr als 100 Alben und EPs rausgebracht. Angefangen bei kleinen Pressungen von EPs für lokale Bands bis hin zu größeren Titeln die sich bis zu 10.000 mal verkauft haben. Manche CORETEX Releases sind mittlerweile kleine Raritäten, so zum Beispiel Agnostic Front, In My Eyes, Better Than A Thousand, Troopers, Kill Your Idols, Sidekick, Up Front und The Bruisers. Die meisten Titel werden aber bei Bedarf einfach nachgepresst und befinden sich so dauerhaft im CORETEX Sortiment, so zum Beispiel Killing Time, Anticops, Troopers, H2O, Toxpack, Radio Dead Ones, Hatebreed, The Business oder Sham 69.
