I was fortunate to meet Jan Veselý some years ago and get to know him as a friend and a very fine luthier. He turned out to be a great teacher always ready with advice and from him I learned many “secrets” of the luthier trade that a violin making schools don’t teach. He is a truly versatile string instrument maker. Besides violins, violas and guitars he also makes baroque instruments, a fascinating niche of instrument making.

I was lucky to be able to look over his shoulder and learn.
