Pistacia vera 'Pontekes'
is a female variety of the frost-resistant pistachio tree, valued for its high yields and quality fruits. A male variety such as 'Delta' or 'Peters' is required for successful pollination and fruit production.
Characteristics and cultivation

Growth: It is an upright growing shrub or small tree with fast growth, which in Czech conditions grows to a height of 2-2.5 meters.
Fruits: The fruits are medium-sized (approx. 0.96–0.99 g), oval in shape, with a green core inside a brownish-red shell, which opens on one side when ripe. The core is tasty and mildly aromatic.
Ripeness and harvest: The fruits ripen and are harvested in August to September.
Resistance: The variety is frost-resistant and also suitable for cultivation in our latitudes, if a warm and sunny habitat and permeable soil are provided. Waterlogging and acidic soil do not suit her.
Pollination: As a female plant, it needs a male pollinator for pollination and fruit formation, Pistacia vera varieties 'Delta', 'Peters' or 'Gama' are recommended.

Diospyros x hybrida ´Chuchupaka´
(Chuchupaka) is a frost-resistant hybrid variety of persimmon (kaki), bred in Ukraine, known for its tasty, medium-sized fruits (approx. 100g), which ripen in October and turn black when fully ripe, while the tree is frost-resistant down to -28 °C. It is a valued and productive variety that is grown in colder regions due to its robustness.
Key features:
Origin: Ukraine, breeder V. Derevyanko, 3rd generation hybrid.
Frost resistance: Very high, up to -28 °C, it is recommended to protect the first 2 years.
Height: Medium-sized tree, grows to about 3-3.5 m.
Fruits: Flat-round, yellow-orange to chestnut, weighing about 100 g, with an excellent sweet taste.
Ripening: Usually in the first half of October, the fruits turn black when fully ripe.
Self-pollination: It is self-pollinating, bears fruit even without a pollinator.
Resistance: It resists fungal diseases and pests, does not require chemical protection.
Use:
The fruits are suitable for direct consumption as soon as they are fully ripe (blackened).
They have a high shelf life.
Name: The variety is named in honor of the Ukrainian hero V. Chuchupak.

Pistacia vera 'Larnaka'
is a popular variety of true pistachio grown in Cyprus, known for its medium-sized, elongated nuts with an attractive deep green kernel color, a high proportion of naturally split shells and a sweet, delicate taste. It is a female tree, requires pollination by a male tree and prefers sunny, dry and well-drained soils, does not tolerate waterlogging. It is valued for its high yield and excellent kernel to total weight ratio.
Key characteristics of the Larnaka variety:

Fruit: Medium size, elongated, slightly asymmetrical shape, intensely green kernel.
Shell: Darkly streaked, easily splits, making it easy to eat.
Taste: Delicate, sweet, with long-lasting notes, suitable for direct consumption and baking.
Yield: High proportion of naturally split nuts.
Cultivation: Requires a male pollinator, full sun, well-drained soil and is drought tolerant, although it is a tree native to Cyprus.

General information about the true pistachio (Pistacia vera):

THE VARIETY IS LATE SO IT IS MORE SUITABLE FOR LOWER LOCATED AREAS SO THAT THE FRUITS HAVE TIME TO RIPE IN QUALITY AND SWEETNESS. IDEAL: Moravia, Elbe, around Prague, Litoměřice, simply wine regions

Diospyros 'Mount Hoverla' (also known by the Ukrainian name 'Gora Goverla') is a high-yielding hybrid persimmon variety. Named after Mount Hoverla, the highest peak in Ukraine, it was bred by J. E. Bogdanovsky in Crimea.

Botanical and growing characteristics
Genetic background: It is a cross between American persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) and Japanese persimmon (Diospyros kaki). Specifically, it is a descendant of the variety 'Nikita’s Gift'.

Hardiness: Highly hardy, tolerates temperatures from -24 °C to -25 °C. Recommended for growing in USDA zone 6a or warmer.

Tree appearance: Reaches a height of 3–4 meters with a rounded crown. Usually begins to bear fruit 3–4 years after planting.

Yield: A mature tree can produce up to 60 kg of fruit per season.
Fruit quality
Appearance: Large, flattened spherical fruits weighing up to 240–270 g. The skin is bright orange to orange-red with a waxy coating.
Taste: The flesh is soft, sweet and dark orange when fully ripe, often described as pleasantly fragrant with a hint of acidity.

Harvest and storage: The fruits ripen in late October to November. They have excellent shelf life and can be stored until January or February under standard conditions.

Pollination: This is a parthenocarpic variety, meaning it can produce seedless fruit without pollination.

Growing Tips
Soil and Location: Prefers well-drained soil and a sunny, sheltered location so the fruit ripens before the first hard frosts.

Pest Resistance: Generally resistant to fungal diseases and common pests, making it suitable for organic cultivation.

PROSPECTIVE MORE RESISTANT VARIETY OF JAPANESE PERSIMMONS

Diospyros kaki ´Honan Red´ - japanese persimmon / trees from own production in summer - SUMMER 2026/

The variety of Japanese persimmon ('kaki') called
'Honan Red' is a self-pollinating tree that produces medium-sized, deep red fruits with a rich, sweet flavor and smooth texture. The fruits are considered astringent until fully ripe and soft.
Characteristics and cultivation
The variety 'Honan Red' is valued for its high fertility and good disease resistance.

Fruits: Medium-sized (180–220 g), deep red-orange in color when ripe and acorn-shaped. The flesh is soft, fiber-free and very sweet when ripe. The fruits are astringent (containing tannins) until they soften completely, which usually occurs in October to November, often after the first frost.
Tree: A deciduous tree that grows to a height of about 3.5–5 metres (12–16 ft) when mature. In autumn, the leaves turn attractive shades of red and orange.
Cultivation: Requires a sunny, sheltered position, ideally against a south-facing wall, and well-drained, humus-rich soil. Young plants are recommended to be protected for the winter, although the tree can withstand frosts down to about -15°C to -20°C.
Self-fertility: The variety 'Honan Red' is self-fertile (self-fertile), so it does not require a pollinator to produce fruit. The fruit often contains very few or no seeds.

PROSPECTIVE VARIETY OF JAPANESE PERSIMS BREECHED IN THE NIKITSKÁ BOTANICAL GARDENS IN CRIMEA.

Diospyros kaki 'Ziročka' syn. ´Zirochka´ (Japanese persimmon) is an early, frost-resistant and self-pollinating Ukrainian variety, which is also suitable for growing in our conditions and produces non-bitter fruits.

Characteristics of the variety
The variety 'Ziročka' is valued for its resistance and fruit properties, which allow it to be grown even in colder areas.

Origin: This is a Ukrainian variety.
Frost resistance: The plant is relatively resistant to frost, about -20C +-.
Self-fertility: 'Ziročka' is a self-fertile variety, which means that it does not need pollinators to form fruits.
Fruits: The fruits are not bitter (PVNA type) and have an early harvest, ripening in September. Thanks to this, they are harvested before severe frosts arrive, which is advantageous for cultivation in the Czech Republic.
Growth: The variety is slow-growing and is also suitable for growing in containers.
Cultivation
For the successful cultivation of the Japanese persimmon 'Ziročka', it is crucial to choose the right location and provide it with proper care.
Location: It prefers the sunniest and warmest place possible, protected from the wind.
Soil: It requires humus-rich, well-drained and slightly acidic soil.
Watering and fertilization: Regular, moderate watering and fertilization are recommended.
Winter protection: Although the variety is frost-resistant, it is advisable to protect young plants for the winter, especially in colder areas.

'Geneva Long' is a cultivated, frost-resistant variety of American persimmon (Virginia persimmon), known for its elongated fruits that ripen in autumn and have a sweet, slightly chocolatey taste reminiscent of apricots. It is popular for its hardiness and cultivation in colder regions.

Key characteristics of the 'Geneva Long' variety:
Origin: A variety of the botanical species Diospyros virginiana, native to the eastern United States.
Frost resistance: Very resistant to cold, making it suitable for cultivation even in slightly colder climates.
Fruit: Elongated (long) shapes, which are edible but tart before full ripeness, sweet after ripening, with notes of apricot and chocolate.
The fruit is small to medium in size, oval in shape, orange-red in color, approx. 80/100g.
Harvest: October 1/2.
