I loved knitting the Sophie Shawl by so much, I immediately cast on another. This one is out of Luxe DK in the Charcoal colorway. It’s the perfect travel knit.

Blocking my Lauder Vest by .creabea
An absolutely fabulous pattern that has an option for vest, cardigan, or pullover and with each can be knit a crew or V-neck. This was such a joy to test knit.
I used DK in the Flannel colorway and couldn’t be happier with the yarn and pattern combo!

There is something so satisfying about swatching. As an important part of the garment knitting process, it’s indicative of the characteristics of the pattern, the yarn, and your tension and how they work together (or not!). The relationship between these key three elements can be worth its weight in gold when honed in just right. And let it be known, “just right” doesn’t necessarily always mean the called for gauge in the pattern, but sometimes what feels right for you. Sometimes that requires a little extra math and planning, but what doesn’t in life? Enjoy the process of swatching and learning from it.
With that said, this is a fantastic little taste of what’s to come. The swatch is for the by the ever so creative .creabea
I’m using DK which is a 75/25 BFL Masham blend and couldn’t be more dreamy.

When sweater knitting gets serious…

I often find it’s really helpful to base sweater measurements off of a store bought piece you like the fit of. Just make sure the fabric densities are similar and it’s a great way to take some of the guesswork out of knitting a garment for yourself, besides trying it on along the way if possible.
I’ve officially named 2024 as the year of the sweater! I love wearing them and have plenty of patterns and yarn at the ready so it’s time to get cracking.
