Quando alla Phaselus abbiamo deciso di creare una linea di chitarre elettriche, la nostra idea e’ stata accolta con reazioni che andavano dalla sfiducia all’ilarita’. Come e’ infatti pensabile di confrontarsi da un lato con tutta la produzione orientale a basso costo e, dall’altro con marchi leggendari o con la produzione di liutai rinomati? Determinati ad offrire un prodotto di altissima qual
ita’ ad un prezzo adeguato ma accessibile, abbiamo deciso di reinterpretare i classici modelli secondo le nostre visioni, cercando di offrire qualcosa in piu’. Abbiamo trovato in Cecoslovacchia un partner affidabile, capace di offrirci la liuteria made in Europe di alta qualita’ e con lui abbiamo fatto scelte strategiche quali la verniciatura. La nostra particolare finitura, infatti, presenta maggiore elasticita’ rispetto alle normali vernici al poliestere e quindi maggiore qualita’ di suono. Essa permette infatti una migliore diffusione delle vibrazioni dello strumento, migliorando la sintesi tra legno ed hardware ed esaltando quindi il suono naturale dello strumento. Per l’elettronica ci siamo orientati sulla produzione artigianale di Van Zand, per poter offrire pick up dal suono unico e fatti a mano. Ma non ancora soddisfatti, in base alle nostre idee, abbiamo chiesto a Van Zand di ampliare la sua produzione, realizzando in esclusiva per noi una serie di mini humbucker e gli humbucker AlNiCo II e IV. Il “plus” che volevamo offrire lo abbiamo trovato nelle meccaniche e nell’elettronica attiva della Schertler, montata sui modelli solid body, che consente di ampliare la gamma dei suoni disponibili. Abbiamo sviluppato i wiring in collaborazione con alcuni dei migliori liutai italiani, avvalendoci della consulenza di musicisti affermati, in modo da offrire, grazie anche agli split, il maggior numero possibile di configurazioni e soddisfare ogni esigenza. Abbiamo prestato attenzione ad ogni dettaglio, scegliendo solo componentistica della migliore qualita’. Il risultato sono le nostre linee Venezia, Milano e Torino, che hanno stupito chi non credeva in noi. ENG
When we decided to create a new line of electric guitars here at Phaselus S.A., some of our friends and the musicians we work with thought that we were hopelessly trying to reinvent the wheel or, worse, started laughing at the idea. How would it have been possible to face established brands, exceptional luthiers and the endless invasion of low-cost instruments flooding the market? Determined to offer a high-quality product at an affordable price point, we applied our ideas to the creation of a new series of electric guitars – our intent was to provide musicians with the very best instrument they can get. We found a reliable partner in the Czech Republic and took some important technical decisions about every aspect of the construction and finishing of our instruments. Among the most important aspects of our guitars is their finish: it presents improved elasticity when compared to the standard polyester finishes commonly used today. Its special elasticity allows for a better diffusion of the instrument’s vibrations throughout the whole instrument, resulting in a perfect synthesis between wood and hardware. Our electronics and wirings are built around handmade Van Zandt pickups in order to enhance the natural qualities of the guitars’ sound. However, that was not enough for what we wanted to achieve. Instead of settling for a standard product, we asked Van Zandt pickups to expand their own production by creating, exclusively for us, a series of mini-humbuckers and standard-sized humbucker pickups with AlNiCo II and AlNiCo IV polepieces. We found that the new tuning machines by Schertler offered the precision and stability we were looking for, while their new active electronics, featured on our solid-body guitars, further allows the musician to broaden his or her sound palette. Our wirings have been developed by teaming up with some of the best Italian luthiers, bringing to life the suggestions of established musicians with the goal to provide guitar players with the widest range of tonal possibilities, this also thanks to special pickup combinations and unusual wirings. We put our best care in designing every aspect and detail of our instruments, and decided to use only the very best components we could find. The results of our efforts are the new Lengardo series of electric guitars: ‘Venezia’, ‘Milano’ and ‘Torino’: they have surprised and convinced everybody – even those that, in the beginning, were laughing at the idea.
