CLERC Exploration Machines

CLERC Exploration Machines CLERC is the first and only Swiss watch company with its own line of personal luxury submersibles. This is the story of Orcasub.

Thanks to a partnership with Sub Aviator Systems, an American designer and builder of personal luxury submarines called Orcasub, CLERC is defining a new luxury segment for underwater flight. These super-fast, easy-to-use, and maneuverable submersibles can fly two pilots in atmospheric comfort and safety anywhere from 2,000 to 6,000 feet. In all human history until now, people who have personally w

itnessed life at such depths can be counted on a single hand. But Orcasub will put underwater flight at anyone’s hands – anyone, that is, who can part with the $2 million it takes to custom-build it. But rest assured, that price includes a complete 5 day Flight Training session. An experience no one ever forgets! This is a new era in the history of human exploration machines. And thanks to Sub Aviator Systems and CLERC, deep-sea exploration will soon become as routine as hopping into your luxury car for a quick trip to the local cigar shop.

Clerc strengthened its presence in the submarine world through an association with Sub Aviators Systems – SAS -, the first company able to produce and sell personal submarines that literally fly under the surface. To celebrate this union, the brand invited a few journalists and bloggers to pilot by themselves the Super Aviator in the bay of Vancouver, Canada. The Super Aviator is a functioning prototype of the future Orcasub submarine, a its luxurious evolution. Diving with it was one of the most stunning experiences. It was super easy to pilot and allows to explore the aquatic world slowly, in perfect conditions and up to 1800 meters deep for the most expensive version of the Orcasub, worth about 10 millions USD.CEO of Clerc, Gerald Clerc underlines the synergies between the two companies in innovation, marketing and testing products. Attached on the external dashboard, a Clerc Hydroscaph model resisted perfectly the depth of 160 meters I reached by pointing the nose of the Super Aviator directly to the bottom of the ocean – that we didn’t reach. “Rabbit”, alias the code name of John Jo Lewis, Managing Director of SAS and main pilot, and “Tiger”, my own one, came back safe.
