Something brand new this way comes…we have launched our FIRST EVER Summer Reading Program.

Summer is the perfect time to squeeze in some extra reading. Whether it’s lazy mornings, road trips, beach days, or campfire nights, summer serves as a great setting for a great read! And this year, P&P has you covered!!

🏖️ What is our summer reading program? It’s a combination of book recommendations, community reading goals, and prizes!!

🏖️ How can you be involved? Pick up a brochure with our summer reading lists, separated by reading age. Choose one of our recs OR read anything you choose.

🏖️ Fill out a BINGO card. Complete one row in any direction and bring it back to the store to enter into the draw barrel.

🏖️ Help us read our goal of 1000 books read between June 15-August 31st. Finish a book, or a few, and drop by to fill out our community reading log.

🏖️ ALL READING COUNTS - every type of book and book format counts, so all readers can be involved!! This is great for those who don’t read on their own yet, all the way to those who have been reading since dinos roamed the Earth.

🏖️ Aren’t local? No problem! Send us your completed Bingo card or your completed books and we will be sure to add you into the draws!!

📚 SUNDAY STACK 📚

Check out these YA titles - had to include THREE Amber Smith books as she is one of my faves 💛.

Even as an adult, YA books can be where it’s at. Instead of focusing on the age, focus on the story, the writing, and the characters. There is so much to enjoy!

We had a book store version of the Teddy Bear Picnic with our Stuffy Sleepover. We had 18 stuffies, brought by 17 sweet kiddos, spend the night at the store. After story time, the kiddos found the perfect spot to tuck in their stuffies before saying good night and heading home.

The stuffy adventures had only just started!! Making drinks, playing hide-and-seek, reading stories, meeting new friends, eating cookies, building puzzles, and more!!

This morning, the kiddos returned, found their stuffies and discovered the hijinx they got into. Thanks to everyone who came out. There were smiles and laughs and new friends and just a magical time!

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada. We believe in reading diversely all year round, but want to draw special attention to some of our favourite and most recommended books by Indigenous authors.

You might ask why it matters. It matters because Indigenous authors, like many other diverse groups, are underrepresented in publishing and the book industry. Like many other systems in Canada and the US, there are multiple barriers to equal representation. As readers, we can demand more support for Indigenous authors by showing the publishing industry that Indigenous stories are important. How do we do that? READ BOOKS BY INDIGENOUS AUTHORS!

Here’s your challenge, if you choose to accept it…choose at least one book by an Indigeouns author this month. And work to incorporate more Indigenous authors in your wider reading goals, too. Many of these books, and more, are at the shop to help with your reading goals. If we don’t have what you want, we can get it for you!

We’ve gathered a variety of titles, across many genres, that centre Indigenous authors, Indigenous voices, Indigenous stories. out list is far from exhaustive. We’d love to hear your recommendations too!!!

Today at 4:30pm! Bring the kiddos in their jammies and their stuffies. We’ll read some stories and then tuck the stuffies in for a sleepover at the book store!!

Today was an exciting day!! New children’s books (my favourite and our shop bestsellers) hit the shelves today.

I have been wanting to stock Paul Castle’s books since we opened, and they are FINALLY here!!! The stories are sweet and funny, and the illustrations are CUTE!! Paul Castle, who has lost 90% of his vision due to a degenerative eye disease, uses his characters, Pringle and Finn - who are inspired by Castle and his husband Matthew, as well as his guide dog, Mr. Maple in all of his books. I can’t wait for you to see them and fall in love with them like I have.

The Remembering Balloons was an ordering mix up, but wow is it a powerful and beautiful story. Two of my grandparents had Alzheimer’s at the end of their life and this book brought tears to my eyes. Just a poignant and heart-warming story.

Finally, we have a new Saskatchewan author in the shop. Patti Torrance’s collection of hunting and fishing books are pure prairie living and will be great options for the outdoorsy kiddos in your life. Patti hails from Tisdale, so we are excited to have another rural author on our shelves.

When I ordered this book, I thought of Looking for Jane by Heather Marshall, a book I absolutely loved!

When No One Else Will by Amanda Skenadore is based on an illegal women’s health clinic in 1940s and the nurse who risked her safety and freedom to work there.

This one went straight into my bag and onto my ever-expanding TBR. What’s a book you recently added to your TBR?
