Congratulations to Cecil Day for her Nova Scotia Spotlight section at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. We are honoured to represent Cecil Day at Harvest Gallery. We currently have six works from her "Underfoot" series for purchase through the gallery. If interested do not hesitate to contact us and we would be happy to help.
Have you seen Cecil Day’s 2019 paired works in the Nova Scotia Spotlight section at the AGNS?
In Underfoot: Beach Peas and Plantain, Day explores the tactile beauty of ground-level flora by placing a linocut and an etching side-by-side. The contrast highlights two distinct printmaking techniques, reflecting her appreciation for how different mediums capture the intricate patterns right beneath our feet.
“These prints show an intimate landscape, the kind one perceives underfoot, like a carpet. I enjoy the patterns and repetitions in the similar forms and try to make textures that you would feel if you were to run your hand over a small patch of undergrowth.” — Cecil Day
