It's Ever After Mama Monday!
Meet Gabi!
What is your occupation?
"Grade 2 teacher."
Fun fact about you.
"I am a dancer of Kadima Dance Company as well as a choreographer!"
What surprised you the most about pregnancy/motherhood?
"I think what surprised me the most was how much I did not enjoy being pregnant. Being pregnant was a very hard journey. We experienced a loss and so my subsequent pregnancies were full of anxiety. I think pregnancy is romanticized in society but it’s hard; really hard. I think there is still a lot of stigma around expressing any sort of hardships with being pregnant and so I try to be as honest as I can be in the hopes that other people don’t feel so alone in their feelings."
Any tips for the newly pregnant Mamas or the new Mamas with little ones?
"Trust your gut and your intuition. If something doesn’t feel right to you or if something feels off, trust that feeling and make the necessary adjustments that work for you and your family. This was a really helpful mentality during sleep training especially. We got advice from books and other people (sometimes unsolicited) but in the end we ended up going with an approach that fit our family and felt true to us. Trust that gut."
