My hope is that you’ll feel at home here. That you would be inspired to be intentional in a moment or experience – with your little one, while washing the dishes, watering the garden, folding laundry, working in or out of the home, picking up toys. That in the mundane of the everyday, you would find beauty. What you read and see here is truly a ref

lection of the beauty I find in community, nature – and the special moments of our journey – the celebrated mundane of the everyday. Tiny Peasant is a blog and shop focused on simple living, learning, making, and eating. We’re fans of child-led learning (and we like an eclectic mix of Montessori, Waldorf and others), nature, hand-crafting, homesteading skills, and growing, cooking and eating good food.

Simplify gift-giving this Christmas...

I remember when I first came across this phrase. My kids were so little and it was a breath of fresh air. Years later, it’s simply woven into our seasonal rhythm. Part of our family culture. They anticipate four gifts, and a stocking of little items. Sometimes the stocking gifts are even one of the four - like a bunch of fun, natural self-care items for the “something you need” category. This has helped us to not go overboard and to have a framework for holiday shopping. It helps the kids know what to expect. And it’s part of our ongoing family conversations around consumerism, simplicity, and gratitude. I have shared this through my past blog, Tiny Peasant, every year, but since I haven’t kept up with sharing in that space, I thought I’d bring some of it over here. Do you have any special gifting traditions in your home to share? We’d love to hear them.

It's spruce tip season - you might catch the tail end of it if you adventure out this weekend! Here are a couple of posts on our adventures with spruce tips. The first is over at Tiny Peasant and is a picture of our day at a nearby park, harvesting spruce tips. And the second is housed over at EcoParent Magazine, and shows the ways we used our spruce tips - in shortbread, syrup and more!
