Winnipeg car experts… we’re pretty sure there’s a baby squirrel stuck in our car engine. How do we help them?!The car has been sitting for a while, and there’s an adult red squirrel in the tree above it freaking out, and when we open the hood, there’s scrambling sounds and high-pitched squeaking. We have no idea how to find it or get it out of there, and it doesn’t seem to know how to do it on its own. And we don’t want it to die.

Pumpkin Spice has been adopted! This big, cuddly fluff-ball has a new home, and a new name: Merlin. It will be easy to remember his new name since he has an 'M' on his forehead as a reminder. Congrats to him and his new family, who adore him.

It turns out that springing a short lived sale on folks with no warning during spring break is maybe not the coolest thing to do. Sorry about that, I wasn’t thinking straight. I’m going to extend the gift card sale because some nice people asked me to. Buy a gift card online or in-store this week, until Saturday, and get 20% extra for free (I’ll email the extra to you after).

Gift Card Sale! It turns out that being away from one’s business a bunch for a couple of months, which means not doing any promotion, sales, or taking in framing jobs, is not a great business move, and will put the business in a tight spot, financially, so we’re having a sale. The sale is today and tomorrow - online and in-person (in-person tomorrow as we’re closed today). Or via e-mail... If you don’t want to go through the website checkout (although we recommend you do for your record-keeping) you could just e-transfer the amount and put gift card in the subject line. Just make sure we have some contact info for you by sending a separate email. Also, life is too short to not treat yourself to some new stitchy stuff or frame that piece you love. *Note: the checkout will have the original amount, I will manually e-mail you the extra after.

Some of you know my lovely mom from the stitch-ins several years back, and lots of you know that I bought the shop because it was her favourite store and she was sad it had closed. She’s had lots of health challenges over the years, including the last couple of months, and now she is coming to the end of her journey. We have the privilege of being able to spend her last days with her. The folks at the hospital have been so kind, getting us lounge chairs, blankets, and pillows so that we can stay the nights and days with her. It has made this easier. Worrying about the impact my absence at work would have have on the shop has been difficult, so I want to say a sincere thank you to all those who have reached out with kind words, asked how they can help, and been patient with waiting for orders or framing. You have truly warmed my heart. The store will be closed on Tuesday, March 31, and open on Wednesday and Thursday from 10am - 4pm. I won’t be there, but the lovely and talented Debra will. The stitch in for this week is cancelled. I will keep you posted about any other changes in shop hours as soon as I know. xo Barb
