Just 3 days ago this stand was under a foot of water as the not usually so mighty Torch River was raging with the spring melt. We didn't waste anytime getting the treats to the dining room as we are now 1 week plus 2 days away from hunting time and you just never know what stands will make our hit list week one.

A typical Spring I try to be into the swamp baits by May 1st. This year however things are one week behind but Jan and myself got there yesterday and made sure the baits (which we’re taking out on snowmobile in March) were fed as well as set up stands and a lot of trail clearing in the 5 miles of rugged terrain. Camera’s are now out there but there was bears on every spot and some healthy looking tracks.

Last season we dealt with forest fires, this season is a different story but one thing for certain is there will never be a dull moment and we’re loving every minute of it all. The Bear hunting countdown is on and to say we’re getting excited is an enormous understatement.
