One of my new works in the show PRAXIS focuses on my hard-working and good-natured father. When he met my mother Ron was a natural gas driller which was a demanding and sometimes dangerous job. The faded letters tell Isabelle about a near-miss he experienced, a chilling read even after all these years. The hand-crafted derrick supporting the glass harkens back to this long ago time, as he was establishing his roles in life as a provider, husband and eventually father of five (Many thanks to John Phelan for the custom frame 🙏)

PRAXIS is the culminating exhibition of a FUSION mentorship. Six artists - Barbara Banfield, Anke Dirks-Wehrmann, Sarah Hamelin, Kim Ross, Laurie Spieker & Annette ten Cate - met with mentor Peter Flannery, Senior Curator to extend their artistic practices and to persist with their ideas, pushing past no-risk boundaries. The exhibition runs until May 31.

You are invited to our closing reception on Thursday, May 28 from 6 to 8 pm.
