This window was inspired by the book, The Hidden Life of Trees, and encouraged to create by John from
From a very young age I have had a great love and respect for trees. I have felt their presence as more than just a "tree" but sentient, interconnected, loving beings. So this window for me was a no brainer.
The tree and roots are made of recycled cardboard, the paper our books come snuggled in when they arrive, pages from old reading copies and The Hidden Life of Trees and driftwood gathered from Willows Beach.
I wanted to tell a story about the noble tree and share with you the importance of being good stewards.
The Hidden Life of Trees opened my eyes and heart even more than I thought possible and now I can't look at a tree, a forest in the same way.
I am grateful there are people like Peter Wohlleben working to keep these gentle giants, pillars of community safe and protected.
"A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they shall never sit in"
