Bit of a sad post today. Yesterday we laid to rest my Dad’s ashes. This summer has been so hard carrying on without him, so many planned adventures that never happened, so many tears. Life comes at you unexpected sometimes.

I wanted to talk a bit about my father. For those who know us, you might have seen my Dad, Mark, at our events or our store. He was always there for us. Every move, every event, every project, any time. I’m so grateful to have had him for a father and he was an amazing grandfather to our kids and a wonderful husband of 56 years to my Mom. We are so lucky to have shared this life with him.

My Dad was a massive lover of music. He had so many records, LPs, CDs and tapes. He was an oil paint artist and many of his paintings hang in the store. He loved other people’s art, especially Chihuly, and the art of album covers. He loved film and history. He started my love of toys and collecting back in the 80s. He loved buying us kids Star Wars, Masters of the Universe, Smurfs, Cabbage Patch, Sectaurs, video games and more. We grew up listening to rock, reggae, folk, pop and one of his absolute favorites, the Beatles. He loved Tom Corbett, robots and space. My parents took us on so many adventures with being in the military and moving every few years. He was a kind, strong and quiet man. He wrote beautiful poetry. My Dad loved our museum and wanted to put some of his collection in it when he passed and that is just what we did. We have two lovely exhibits of his Beatles collection and Space/Robot collection. I know he would have loved them. ❤️ We will carry him around in our hearts from now until the end of our days. Miss you Dad.
