Hey friends!
The furry bosses are busy trying to figure out what we're going to do next. We know a lot of you have a lot of questions and want to know where we're going to go.
We are extremely grateful for all of our regular customers who showed up today to commiserate with us, the support us and the other Market vendors, and to check in on how we're doing. We love you very much and it means the world to us that you care enough to check in.
We don't know what happens next. We've been looking for a new spot since last June and there's not much out there. We had planned to sell our shop in the market so that we had the funds to move and that is no longer an option. Due to the decisions of Townline we have seen a sharp decrease in business in the market which has left us in a very precarious situation financially.
We love what we do. We're very good at it. (And by we I mean Victoria & Leah, I'm mostly there for comedic relief.) we want to keep slinging pies and canning goods but the future is not yet written.
Right now all we ask is that you come to the market. If you're not in the mood for a pie you can get a wrap, sushi, pizza, sandwich, kitchen supplies, Indian food. There's a lot of businesses you can support in the market and by supporting one of us you support all of us. All that matters is that you're supporting small local businesses while you can.
We have solid reason to believe that the market is not going to turn into a local Independent grocer but a national chain. The loss of seven locally owned independent businesses to a national chain is a serious blow to our local economy, to our community, and to who we are as a people. There's no argument that that area of downtown needs a grocery store and we fully support the idea of bringing in a local grocer but, if our information is correct, it will be a national chain and one that does not care about community.
We'd really appreciate if you could pop by, say hi, and support all of us in the market. If you're not in the mood for a pie we'll tell you the best stuff to get from all the other vendors. We're here to support our neighbors and our community and we hope you join us in doing so.
