deeply feminist, environmentalist, anti-homophobic/transphobic, anti-ableist and anti-racist, the vb pedalgogy is a safe space for bicycle repair and education situated on treaty 1 territory. while it is modeled after community bicycle shops such as the bike dump (http://bike-dump.ca/) which aim to remove financial and knowledge barriers to cycling, the pedalgogy's location in a high socioeconomic

status (SES) resort community shifts its focus primarily to radical and sustainable thought and action. as it is fundamentally anarcho-socialist, the vb pedalgogy takes to heart the adage "from each according to their ability to each according to their need". while this means freely offering support to communities most harshly impacted by the poverty that capitalism generates during the week, those at victoria beach who can afford to are requested to compensate the pedalgogy volunteers for their bike support according to their ability to do so (in a way that reflects their SES). for some this may mean paying well above market value for services. thank you and see you along the avenues :)

Remembering Bill Ritchie who had a repair shop on 6th ave well before I started the Pedalgogy in 2013.

Before he passed away, he gave me his old chain tool which he himself got from an "old timer".

Hi all!

Unfortunately we will not be open this year as our main mechanic will be volunteering at The Bike Dump every Sunday instead, where there is a higher need for volunteers.

Hi all!

The VB Pedalgogy Bike Shop in the backyard of 326 8th Ave is open for another year.

Official hours are 11am-1pm on Sundays until September.

Please text ahead if possible to schedule an appointment and to avoid waiting in line (there is only really one mechanic). 204 963 6659.

Please also feel free to text for removal of your old bicycles; there may be some parts, or whole bikes, that are still usable.
