Posy people! Harris Wade- aka Uncle Harpo- was up before the crack of dawn this morning to jet off for a MAJOR adventure!

As I type this he is on route to Medicine Hat Alberta to compete at the Nationals in Special Olympics Swimming!!!!!!

He has been busy training all winter, spring and summer (too busy training in fact to visit Posy for more than a couple of weekends this year!) and boy is he READY!

Last night the entire community of our tiny hometown village of Burnstown Ont., came out to cheer him on and give him a huge send off. My sister heart couldn’t handle the beauty of this moment so of course I wept instantly upon seeing these photos. The poser of community people. As I told Harris, these wonderful people are such amazing friends to him because he is an amazing friend to them. Thank you for continuing to show us how to be a friend Harris, all our lives are better because you are in them 😘

We at Posy will be cheering you on, and you better believe I will be sharing that life stream of your events as soon as you send it to me (ahem ahem!)

We have BIG news!

If you have been following along you know that Posy is much more than a flower farm and a floral design studio. We are a “green care farm” which means we use our farm as a therapeutic tool to offer skill and vocational training, employment, and respite opportunities to adults living with intellectual disabilities (ID) and their caregivers. Our goal is to showcase the value that adults with ID bring to our communities and provide opportunities for people with and without disabilities to interact and enjoy each other’s company.

Wednesday August 26th we will come one step closer to meeting that goal - we will be hosting our first ever open house at Posy’s Fleurish program. This free event is open to anyone with ID and their caregivers.

We want to show you what we are building and get your input on the direction we take with our future programming!

Please share widely and sign up asap so we can ensure we have enough support staff available to make this day a huge success.

Nothing says late summer like the glow of sunflowers 🌻

In a moment of serendipity I spent the last day of my vacation touring Arles with my family, looking for all Van Gogh’s favorite spots - including the yellow house where he painted Gauguin’s room full of sunflowers to welcome him. At the same time, the Posy team was busy harvesting these gorgeous blooms from our fields!

Come and get ‘em at Atwater Market Sunday August 2 and spread the joy and optimism that Van Gough found embodied in these wonders of nature 😍
