Saints Cyprian is an early Christian martyr venerated by the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. According to tradition, Cyprian—a powerful sorcerer from Antioch—was hired to use black magic to make Justina another Christian martyr, fall in love with a nobleman, but her unwavering faith and prayers constantly defeated his demonic spells. Astonished by the power of her faith, Cyprian renounced the occult, converted to Christianity, and was eventually made a bishop, while Justina dedicated her life to God. Both were executed during the Diocletianic Persecution in 304 AD at Nicomedia.
In Christian tradition, he is highly regarded as a powerful intercessor against malevolent forces, witchcraft, and the “evil eye”. Saint Cyprian’s black incense is burned to clear negative energy, dispelling magic and removing the evil eye.
