Fill-a-Bag and 20% off is happening at FABCYCLE!

Come by between 11am and 5:30pm, choose your bag size, fill it up with sewing supplies + notions, and take home all kinds of useful, weird, amazing little sewing finds.

We’ve got zippers, elastic, webbing, trim, ribbons, buttons, fringe, lots of random sewing bits, and yes — a bunch of free things too.

This midweek drop, we’ve got yarn!
And yes, technically we are getting closer to warmer weather, but Vancouver has been doing whatever Vancouver wants to do lately, so we decided to bring a little cozy back.

We just added another huge selection of yarn, and there are some really beautiful finds in this one.

Alpaca, wool, recycled yarn, cotton, and a whole mix of other good things for knitters, crocheters, weavers, and anyone who just loves yarn.

There is something so satisfying about quilting cottons.

The little prints.The colours.The way a few fabrics can sit next to each other and suddenly you can see the whole project.

Even if you don’t quilt, quilting cottons are so useful.

Great for pockets.Great for linings.Great for bags.Great for patchwork.Great for little details that make a project feel more personal.

We just dropped a huge selection of quilting cottons, so this feels like the right time to ask:

How do we feel about quilted apparel?

Quilted jackets?Patchwork coats?Using quilting cottons in garments?Cutting up an old quilt to make something wearable?

Is that beautiful? Is that controversial? Is that a big no-no? I need to know where everyone stands.

Quilting is such an interesting part of the sewing world.

Because we work primarily with apparel manufacturers and businesses, it can sometimes feel like apparel sewing is the whole thing.

But then there’s quilting.

Yes, the mechanics overlap in a lot of ways, but it really is such a different world.

And then, of course, there are all the beautiful crossovers.

Patchwork jackets.
Quilted bags.
Pieced details.
Cotton prints used in garments.
Little fabric stories stitched together in completely unexpected ways.

We recently got a big batch of quilting cottons from quilters and makers, and yes, our community definitely needed these.
