Playing with shadow and shape with this lid pull!
I wasn't sure what shape would come from the lamination pattern, but every angle is different. It's not shown, but the back is the negative of what is seen (maple instead of black walnut). I made the bottom a little tapered to lift the pull above the lid just a touch, creating an interesting shadow effect.

The front looks like a symbol I've seen somewhere in Europe...can anyone identify?? What do you think of the pattern? 👀

First shot at veneering!

I'm going to try to post some of the cool things we are learning...really, that means I could post multiple times a day, but I'll aim for 1-2 times a week 😅

Our instructor said the secret to tight mitre joints on boxes is electrical tape! Masking tape works, but the electrical tape gets a strethy-snug fit.

A new journey is starting today!

I'm so excited to be part of the Fine Furniture Design program this year. It's going to be 10 months of intense learning, and I know there will be intense highs and lows like my bench predecessor warned, but I'll be a much better craftsperson on the other side. It felt like the exact right time to take the next step in woodworking, and I can't wait to share what I learn and create ❤️

Dropped off some more art at Rainforest Arts Gallery yesterday!

Steph snapped these awesome pics of me and my work. As she processed the items, someone came in and bought 6 pieces!! It was incredible and heartwarming to speak with someone excited to take my art with them on their travels as gifts for others (and for themselves).

Now...I guess I have to make some more stuff. Not a bad problem to have! 😅

It was so cool to be part of my first CVAC show! "Cookie, Anyone?" has been with me for a while now, and it was really rewarding to see others enjoying my work, pointing and smiling at the name and mica swirls.

I miss my Vancouver arts community often, but I really enjoy being an artist in the Cowichan Valley, which I just learned has the most artists per capita in BC, and that BC has the most labour force artists in the country!

I can't wait to see what the future holds for my little business, but I'm even more excited to continue learning about my craft and becoming a better artist.

Join us this weekend for a wonderful Mother's Day Market 🌹🩷

On May 3rd and 4th from 12 pm - 4 pm, head to Merridale at their beautiful cidery for a pop-up market in their courtyard to celebrate the moms and mother figures in our lives. We will be vending alongside many talented local makers showcasing their creations, and Merridale is pairing the experience with a glass of cider or a non-alcoholic drink.

Tickets are $6, with each ticket cost going directly to the Cowichan Women Against Violence Society, a charitable organization offering many essential services, including housing and counselling, to women and children escaping violence in our community.
