📦✨ We’re Moving, and We Need Our Community ✨📦
Small business is never just about making products.
Over the last few years, we’ve carried the cost of building repairs, plumbing issues, maintenance, and all the unexpected expenses that come with keeping the doors open. Like many small businesses, we’ve spent a lot of time supporting a building that wasn’t supporting us back.
The good news?
Sisters Sage has found a new home. 💛
A space that makes more sense for our future, our team, and the community we’re building.
The challenging part is that moving comes with costs. Between overlapping rent, moving expenses, fixtures, shelving, inventory transfers, and setting up a new location, we’re carrying a lot all at once.
So we’re doing what small businesses have always done.
We’re asking our community to rally.
🌿 How you can help:
• Shop online www.SistersSage.com
• Visit us in-store at 1312 Kingsway
• Join us at our upcoming markets
• Share our posts with your networks
• Purchase gifts for friends, family, coworkers, or clients
• Support directly via e-transfer: [email protected]
📅 Upcoming Markets
🧡 National Indigenous Peoples Day Market
June 21, 1312 Kingsway
❤️ Canada Day Market
July 1, 1312 Kingsway
We’ll have First Nations entrepreneurs, artists, makers, food vendors, wellness products, gifts, and more.
Every purchase helps us move into our next chapter.
Every share helps more people find us.
Every bit of support matters.
Thank you for helping a First Nations women-owned business continue to grow, create jobs, and invest back into community.
T’oyaxsut nüün. ❤️

Things about the last several days in the bookstore that have been wonderful: The new ‘regular’ who said, ‘I love this place and I find myself wanting to give back to it.’ The posse of Irregulars chatting about games and q***r books while cleaning long-boxed backstock. The zinemaker who brought us Lee’s doughnuts. Everyone who has offered kind words, comforting treats, tools, hands. Everyone who has been patient with my struggle to think beyond the most immediate needs. We no longer have water squelching up between the flooring planks. Most of the backstock is priced. We have the wonderful writers Anthony Nerada and Loghan Paylor joining us tomorrow evening. We’re on our way back to being ourselves.

UPDATE: We'll be open tomorrow, with lots of the sneakily growing backstock out on tables at very friendly prices! Since we had to move it all to clean and air the back room, we decided to just get it out into the world where it belongs. It's a mixed bunch of good but non-q***r books, from Salman Rushdie to R. L. Stine.

Hey loves, yesterday was not as bad as it could have been, but the water that came in was pretty dirty and got under flooring. Today we are all about dehumidification and mould prevention. You’ll find us there but not in the best state to assist you, and not fit for browsing. Thank you for bearing with.

UPDATE: A kind neighbour lent a shopvac, Atkilt from Gojo Ethiopian Cafe (also flooded) replaced the hose so the water outside has been pumped away, and we have been vacuuming up the indoor lake. We're taking a quick pizza break and then back at it.

Fam, this is a bad, bad day. Not sure how bad yet but I’m hating it a lot already. Somebody took the hose off our sump pump and I have rainwater almost up to the front door. Our shop vac has given out—it should not be smoking, eh? All apologies, I can’t open like this.
It’s just one more blow on top of a series.
Anyone have a wet-dry vac they can lend? I’m also looking up tool rentals and if I secure one, a ride to pick one up would be helpful.

OMG Y’ALL IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING! We’re getting a new sidewalk! We are so glad, but also a bit anxious.
I have had speech with the contractor who is scheduled to remove the poor battered street tree out front, and lay the badly needed new concrete. The tree will come down on the 12th May. The work will take about a week beyond that. They’ll use bridging to keep us open as much as possible, but there will be times where that’s not possible. There will also be stretches of noise and dust, which are not the nicest for passersby and browsers. So—friends, we will need your support to stay on track to make rent. Please use the webstore! Please visit later in the day, after crews leave! (Would you like some extended hours?) Please tell all the q***rs of this town, and every other person of good will, that we exist! (It amazes me the number of people each week who visit for the first time and had no idea there ever was such a place. Keep sending ‘em our way!) Consider joining our tiny Patreon for long-term support of major shop goals. We’ll probably do a bit of a sale to give ourselves a little boost. But I can’t say enough how glad we will be once it’s done and this whole block is more accessible and pleasant for everyone. Forward momentum!
