Then and now, 20 years apart.
Yesterday was the official day , 20 years ago, I changed my destiny by choosing to take action and leave how I was taught life should look and feel.
For many of you who have followed my story, you may already know my background is Amish, and my family is still practicing this tradition , however at 15 years of age I made the decision to walk away from my family , my friends and my community to pursue my future.
Some of you may not understand the full concept of this change.
Amish people are simple , Christian based, horse - and buggy drawn, hard-working farmers who believe in modesty.
Women are found in the kitchen , married with children from a young age , 16- 21.
Although my life was fine I really couldn't stay because in my heart I wanted more... more education, more freedom, and a voice for myself.
This post is to encourage every single WOMAN.
Women of every single color and age.
You are enough, you are worthy , and YOU are going to become anything you want to be. BELIEVE in yourself and never let anyone take that away from you or stand in your way.
That little 15 year old was scared, innocent, worried,excited, nervous...
But it didn't stop her from making this generational difference.
I keep saying this -
I don't fear the world, I only fear God.
Here's to our destiny ! Don't underestimate it !
