Karol Krysik Books Open Shop We occasionally issue lists and catalogues and participate in bookfairs in Canada and abroad.

We are a general antiquarian bookshop with a focus on folklore, legends, fairy tales, publishers’ bindings, illustrated books, detective/crime fiction, literature and history. We buy individual books and collections, as well as ephemera, posters, photographs, archives and other interesting and unusual or rare items. Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1896. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine. Item #12282

First edition. Post 8vo. 15 unnumbered leaves. Edition de Luxe. No. 226 of 250 copies printed on French-fold Arnold handmade paper with additional illustrated title-page. Unsigned binding by William Snelling Hadaway [Crichton, 34]. Bound in full red parchment decorated in gilt stamped medieval design depiction of Friar Jerome holding an open book in his right hand and another in his left, in a background of grape vines, with gilt lettering to upper and lower edges and the spine. Printed throughout in red and black with rubricated initials. Top edge gilt. With the original ribbon ties. Includes illustrated title-page specific to the de Luxe edition, two double page designs and 9 text borders, all by William Snelling Hadaway. A fine copy with the contemporary bookplate of Wellington Reid Townley on the front paste-down. The large paper de Luxe edition is scarce. [Crichton, p. 34 & Thompson, p. 62].

Portrait de Michele. A puzzle sculpture by Miguel Ortiz Berrocal (1933-2006). Nickel silver and brass. 17 parts, including a blue gemstone and enamel gold ring inserted for the eye. Signed and numbered. Includes the instruction book published in 5 languages.
