Some tea bushes can be hundreds of years old, but when new ones need to be planted they are either grown from seed or propagated from leaf cuttings. 🌱 When we visited one of our growers in India, they had planted 35,000 tea plants from seed to replenish and fill in their fields. That’s a lot of future tea growing!

NEW TEAS! ✨ We've been busy making new blends for Summer! Which one do you think sounds/looks the best?

Double Cream Earl Grey has a double dose of earl grey with extra cream and swirls of vanilla and caramel.

Dripping with decadence, Chocolate Caramel Drizzle is blended with carob and cocoa for extra rich flavor.

And lastly, Honeybush Peach is super refreshing with a honey-like aroma, juicy peach flavor and nutty finish!

Did you know all tea comes from the same plant? It's true, all black, green, oolong, white, and pu-erh is made from Camellia Sinensis.

🌱 It's how the tea leaves are processed that makes a green a "green", and a pu-erh a "pu-erh". For example, black teas are left to oxidize (dry slowly in the air), greens are steamed or pan-fried and pu-erh is fermented.

Gerry (the founder of Metropolitan Tea) is off on yet another adventure! He is taking part in a sailing race from Lanzarote, Canary Islands to Port Louis, Grenada. As of Sunday November 30th, The Spirit of Adventure (the boat that he is crewing on) has performed admirably. Within their class, they are in second - and it's only the beginning of the race, so tune in! Should winds remain favorable, expert veterans such as skipper Derek Hatfield will waste no time reaching or running into the lead! Wish Gerry and his crew mates on Spirit of Adventure GOOD LUCK!
