The Kramer Ferrington guitar, debuting in 1986 and designed by luthier Danny Ferrington, represents an intriguing blend of acoustic and electric features aimed at exploring a softer side of hard rock. Known as the KFS-1, this model was very popular during the 80’s metal glam period, maintaining that teased-hair L.A aesthetic while delivering the juicy ballads that the record companies loved. It sports an ESP carved “pointy head” neck with the same lightning fast profile found on its Pacer and Baretta counterparts. Just like having an acoustic that plays like your best “shredder”. This one is from circa 1986 and has just been set up here at the shop and has a rich sound both acoustically and plugged in. $1199 CDN

Early 1940s Gibson ES 150. These guitars had solid spruce tops and for a short window of time had a P13 pickup in the bridge position. That P13 has been replaced with a hum-cancelling P90 dog ear, as were the original Bakelite k***s for gold bell tops. The tuners look to be at least 50-year old replacements. Any top cracks have been repaired previously. We just inspected it thoroughly and it is very structurally solid. Recent fretwork and setup here at the shop have this monster playing fast with lots of woody tone and volume. This guitar did belong to actor who gifted it to its owner. Shoutout to $3699 CDN w/hsc

Late 1960s Corsica. Our amp tech Peter Medvick used this original finger-jointed solid pine enclosure, faceplate and chassis to recreate a truly remarkably touch-sensitive class A amp using the finest components. It puts out a loud 13 watts but sounds like 30 with a tight solid state rectifier which offers insane crunch. Powered by 2x 6v6 power tubes and 4x 12ax7s. The tremolo is very smooth and controllable. This amp must be played to be believed. Super cool gear like this is what we’re known for. We haven’t decided on pricing yet but rest assured it will be affordable and a great value. Some solid state amplifiers have their place as being revered amongst players. The JC-120 and Acoustic 360 for example come to mind. This Marshall 5210 can sit firmly amongst those. This amp delivers all the JCM 800 grind without the tubes, weight or price tag. No wonder this amp is being sought by metal guitarists. The cleans it’s capable of are equally as impressive. Landed on our tarmac is this very lightweight style guitar with a hand built hollow body made entirely from aircraft aluminum. TIG-welded without visible seam, it has an acoustic like resonance and lengthy sustain with a softer top end. The pickups are custom Pickup Wizards and it is freshly set up.
