Why do we still shape necks by hand? 🪵🪛

While CNC machines are great for speed and repeatably roughing out shapes, they can’t feel the wood.

When carving an instrument neck, every fraction of a millimeter alters how it feels in a player's hand. Shaping manually using rasps, spokeshaves, and card scrapers allows us to constantly check the profile, edge roll, and palm transitions by touch. It’s the difference between a mass-produced neck and one that feels effortlessly natural from the moment you pick it up.

Craft takes time, but the feel in your hands is worth every minute.
