Couldn’t have been said better 🙌
Buying too much of anything is
not sustainable, even if you get it second-hand.
In recent years YouTube and Tiktok have made thrifting more and more trendy. What started as a sustainable/ethical option has fallen prey to capitalistic ideals. Whether you are a thrift flipper who frequents their local thrift shop to resell items at a higher price or you compulsively buy more than they can possibly wear, this is not sustainable. It also reduces access to communities that rely on this clothing, pushing them to buy from super-cheap fast fashion brands.
I am not saying you should stop thrifting or sharing your thrift experiences, but you should think about and plan for what you need before purchasing (even at thrift stores).
